Spelarbetyg - Everton Hemma
Steve Harper - 6 - 6 - 6.7
"After that unfortunate slip that allowed the spawny Xabi Alonso to score from god knows how far out, Harps continued to deputise for the injured Shay. Although he conceded there was little he could do to stop the Cahill header. He pulled off one or two good saves."
Peter Ramage - 6 - 5 - 5.9
"Ramage filled in at left back and actually did not do too badly. Clearly he is out of position and at times it looks alien to him, however, he did manage to put in a good shift. A more potent threat from the wing may well have troubled him but everton played on the counter which allowed Ramage space to push forward and ample time to read the game."
Craig Moore - 5 - 5 - 5.9
"This rating is simply down to the fact it was his double error that led to the Everton goal. First he could not clear the ball properly and conceded a corner and secondly, from the resulting corner, he lost his man and allowed Cahill, deadly in the air, to equalise. I am a fan of Craig Moore but he needs an inspired performace to reassure the fans that he is not going to be another boumsong."
Titus Bramble - 3 - 4 - 4.5
"His sending off was always on the cards. Time after time Andy Johnson lured Bramble in and the idiot fell for it. Johnson would collect the ball on the wing, and the Tit would come charging over and lunging in. It was for one of these challenges that he recieved his first
yellow card. Poor distribution and poor awareness allowed Johnson and Cahill to look more dangerous than either of them should have. His second yellow came when he again lunged in, this time on Leon Osman. We got rid of Boumsong and yet Titus remains!! I know which one I would rather have."
Stephen Carr - 6 - 5 - 5.5
"Steady eddy at the back. His positional skills in the box are weak and needs improvement. How many times do you look across the back line and its a disjointed mess? As a senior member of the team he should be more commanding. Does his normal no frills job but lacks that extra bit of quality that could make a difference."
Scott Parker - 7 - 8 - 7.9
"As hardworking as ever, altough it did seem that he was under orders not to run himself into the ground like he did against Fulham. Came very close to scoring when his delicate lob was only just saved. His usual burts into the box meant that Everton had to keep a close eye on him. With McClaren in the stands it remains to be seen whether he will get an England spot for the upcoming Euro qualifiers in October."
Emre - 6 - 6 - 6.6
"Playing Emre deep appears to stifle the players obvious creative talent. However, that is the job he is doing for the team at present and credit to him for sticking at it. He tried to be the playmaker but with Everton defending deep he had little room to manoevre. Doing a job at present but I would like to see him play higher up the field, I think he could be prefect foil for Martins to play off."
Charles N'Zogbia - 6 - 6 - 6.7
"Quiet game for the normally high-tempo Charles. Everton had done their homework and more often than not, when Zoggy set off on his runs, he was instantly chopped down. Deployed at left back following the Tit's dismissal and did relatively well. Although, we lost out on his ability going forward and he could have made the difference if the Tit had stayed on."
James Milner - 8 - 5 - 7.2
"Perhaps a better mark than Milner deserved? In the first half he was fairly quiet. However, his second half performance was much better and he proved to be the main threat to the Everton backline. For that he gets 8 and Man of the Match. His driving runs and high energy performance kept Everton busy and looked the most likely source for us to regain the lead. However, a lot of his runs, although tricky, were not often matched with a quality delivery or that final pass. That said, he did stand out and he needs more performances like this if he is to cement himself in the Newcastle starting line up."
Shola Ameobi - 5 - 7 - 6.5
"Scored his goal, although he was miles offside, before going off soon after with an injury. Shola showed all the young aspiring strikers just what NOT to do as he looked to see if he was onside before scoring....PLAY TO THE WHISTLE IN FUTURE AND DON'T LOOK AT THE ASSISTANT REF! A very lucky goal in many ways. However, as soon as we lost his presence up front we looked very lightweight and Martins seemed to go missing."
Obafemi Martins - 6 - 6 - 6.3
"One or two moments, especially in second half where he won a ball he had no right to win before bringing a good stop from Howard. Early on he looked to be linking up well with Shola ,however, once Shola went off he kind of dissappeared. However, he looked a lot better than he did in the home game against Fulham and I hope there is more to come from him. Not a lot he could do against a stubborn Everton defence."
Inbytta:
Antoine Sibierski - * - 5 - 5.8
"Came on for Shola and did relatively little other than provide a target man. Well past it but a stop-gap so cheers for that Antoine."
Guiseppe Rossi - * - 7 - 7.2
"Handed a cameo ten minutes and did really well. Looked sharp and tested Howard with a decent strike. Clearly the lad is a talent, and will be for years to come. However, he will be in a red shirt and not a black and white one which is the most maddening thing."
* = Inget betyg givet.
