Sorenson 7. Went in where it hurts, and proved that it hurt a bit too much as he had to come off injured (51mins) due to a kick in the ribs by Ince (?) Postma 7. (on 51 mins) Pulled off one stunning save. Organised the defence well enough, looked sharper than previous games.
Delaney 7. Two crosses resulting in two goals, got up and down the pitch well.
Mellberg 6. Possibly at fault for not stopping Rae, but generally solid.
Dublin 7. Not necessarily as immersed in the play as he has been, but a leader on the pitch nonetheless.
Samuel 6. Started brightly but faded.
Barry 7. Got about, set one goal up and scored a goal, the sort of contribution we want more of please.
Hitzlesperger 5. Distinctly average.
McCann 7. Not pretty, but got stuck in, loads of crunching tackles, did all the dirty work that goes unnoticed. Final ball leaves a lot to be desired and did lose the ball a few times.
Angel 8. M.O.M. Give him the chances and he will score. Well, usually, he did miss out on a hattrick with a bad miss towards the end.
Allback 3. Was he playing today? Got in the right places at times, but miss-kicked or just plain missed everything.
Vassell 3. Should used as a sub now, enough is enough, he should be terrorising defences, he isn't. Not another Joachim surely?!
DLC 3. (on for Allback 58) Gave the ball away putting Villa under pressure, one leading to a goal. Woeful player, shouldn't even make the bench.
DOL 7. Looked more involved today, but why the formation changes? Also, what message is sent to Crouch when Allback is replaced with DLC?
Villa Crowd 6. It was Wolves we were playing, so why so many City songs?
Wolves Crowd 6. No great shakes, didn't feel like a local derby. Must have been the full 3500 allocation.
Ref: Graham Poll 8. Knew it was a local derby, allowed things to go (like Dublin almost picking up and throwing Sturridge several times). Also stared in disbelief at Ince after he did a scissor kick near the half way line, then burst out laughing, my favourite moment of the game, especially the expression on Inces face!
My ratings defined: 1) Totally awful, had a mare, should be taken out and shot, 2) Awful, but not usual standard, 3) Very poor, needs to improve or be dropped, 4) Poor, below the standard expected, 5) Average, the least expected, 6) Better than average, but in patches only, 7) Good, generally decent performance, 8) Very good, above the standard, standing out at times, 9) Excellent, stood out all match, 10) Outstanding (aka Paul McGrath!). Truly commanded the match, stunning.
