Kommentarer efter Arsenal-Everton
En frustrerad Arsene Wenger och en mycket nöjd David Moyes. Läs här vad de båda tränarna hade att säga efter den oavgjorda matchen.
Ännu en irriterande poängförlust mot en motståndare som inte ville anfalla. Arsene Wenger var lika frustrerad som alla andra över lagets oförmåga att få hål på Evertons betongförsvar. Självkritiskt menade han att Arsenal släppte in Evertons ledningsmål alldeles för lätt och att det saknades en del skärpa nära gästernas mål.
"We mustn't put ourselves in a position where teams are comforted by that tactic. We have to be more rigorous on set-pieces like that and not concede goals."
"It was very frustrating against a team with zero shots on or off target and when you have 70% of the ball. There was no real space and it was not easy up front. We played well but it's not excellent when you cannot score. We lacked sharpness and vision in the final third. We didn't attack the ball well on crosses. When you play like we play we have the ability to open up teams and punish them, but unfortunately we weren't able to do that today. Every game we don't win is a massive disappointment."
Wenger var också irriterad på Evertons sätt att konstant försöka fördröja spelet.
"Everton deserve the credit for the way the defended. They were very intelligent and once they went 1-0 up they never came out. But I was not pleased with the way they gained time from goal kicks and free kicks. From the first minute to the last the goalkeeper was placing goal-kicks from the left and then moving them to the right.They were standing in front of the ball at free-kicks. It was negative but that's how the game is going at the moment. "
Evertons manager David Moyes var självklart desto gladare, särskilt som man haft problem med sjukdom i truppen i veckan.
"The lads showed great character and there is a bug doing the rounds and I may have to give them a few days off to recover. All the lads who have played with injuries and illness need a pat on the back for their performances. It's great for the lads to come here and get a result, especially the way they played against Reading last week."
Moyes gav också en förklaring till sitt lags taktik;
"Our football has been good this season. We've made lots of chances but today we had to find another way to get a result. If we came here to play an open game, they would just cut through us."
Att Everton var helnöjda med resultatet understryks av Alan Stubbs kommentar till Everton TV efter matchen:
"A draw is a superb result. In the dressing room we were thrilled to bits. "
