Så här säger Arsene Wenger om matchen mot Schalke04:
"Hello Arsenal supporters,
We knew before Tuesday night´s game that we had already qualified for the next stage of the Champions League, despite the result. However, although the result didn´t mean anything to the final table, we were unable to round off the first group stage with a win.
We made a very sloppy start and our problems were worsened when we were quickly down to ten men. But after that, I feel we played quite well in the first half and created some chances with just ten men. In the second half, it became more difficult because we became more jaded playing with one less man than them. To play most of the match with ten men, with nothing really at stake apart from our pride was very difficult.
Both Matthew Upson and Sol Campbell were taken off in the second half. Upson has a hamstring problem, as does Campbell. But taking off Sol was more of a precaution. He should be fit for Sunday but Upson is definitely out for two or three weeks.
I did not see the Oleg Luzhny sending off because the ball was away from him when it happened. But the linesman came on to the pitch quite quickly, so it looks like Oleg probably did make a bad reaction to the situation.
It goes without saying that we wanted to pick up an away win from the Group, but I feel that it is difficult to win in Schalke, in Panathinaikos and in Mallorca with 11 men on any occasion. But we made it difficult for ourselves, especially in Palma and in Germany when we are reduced to ten men early on.
I had to rebuild the team a bit for the match, and I think Ray Parlour at right-back, where he´s never played before, did very well. I think Kanu was outstanding and Edu had quite a positive first half but it was his first game so he tired a bit in the later stages.
But I´m not disappointed with the players and with their attitude, I´m just disappointed that we put so much effort in but we had no chance really when we went down to ten men.
We now look forward to the draw on Friday to see who we get in the next stage.
Thanks for your fantastic support.
Arsène Wenger.
