I denna Nattens Arsenal fortsätter Arsene Wenger sitt bråk med Hollands förbundskapten Bert van Marjwik. Kieran Gibbs får beröm av Stephen Warnock och Jack Wilshere tackar Owen Coyle. Detta plus en skadeuppdatering inför matchen mot Newcastle på söndag finns att läsa.
Wenger
van Persie-gate
Redan efter Shaktarmatchen visade Wenger sitt missnöje med att van Persie är uttagen till Hollands vänskapsmatch den 17 november. Det engelska drevet var inte sena att fråga Wenger vad han tycker om detta under fredagens presskonferens.
“It's a friendly game. It's not a qualification game. You treat the friendlies in a different way than you would the qualifiers. It is an opportunity for managers to try out new players. England will do it and France will do it. That's what friendlies are for. So for me the situation is a bit surreal because he hasn't played for us. He has to show that he can play. There's a chance he will play before the game if all goes well. He's had one session today and we'll see how he reacts to that session. But we watch him day by day, so how he can play for Holland I don't know.”, sa Wenger.
Bert van Marjwik var inte sen att gå till motattack efter Wengers uttalande i onsdags. Han sätt att se på saken är att om van Persie är skadefri ska han spela i landslaget.
“Has there been any contract with the medical staff of Holland and Arsenal? I don’t know. I don’t care. I spoke to Robin personally and I just made the selection. I will wait for any comments to come.”, säger van Marjwik.
Kontraktsförhandlingar för Nasri och Clichy
Le Boss berättade att Arsenal har inlett förhandlingar med fransmännen Samir Nasri och Gael Clichy. Spelarna är inne på sluttampen av sina kontrakt och en förlängning ska kunna komma till stånd tror Wenger."We are working on it at the moment. I'm hopeful [of agreeing deals], yes, because the players want to stay.", säger Wenger.
Diabys kan behöva operation
Abou Diaby skadade sin fotled när Boltons Paul Robinson gjorde en rejäl brittisk tackling med dobbarna före. Eller det är väl så han själv ser på saken. Diaby som har varit borta i omgångar verkar nu behöva en operation. Om han har tur så slipper han det.
“We hope he will not need surgery but there is a little piece of bone in his ankle. We hope it will settle down. But at the moment he's not on the pitch. He's not been the same since the incident with Robinson. Before he was completely fantastic. He has played since then but was never completely himself.", säger Wenger.
Wenger: City ska behålla Manchini
Att få snabb framgång i toppfotbollen är inte enkelt. Även fast man har den största plånboken i fotbollseuropa. Arsene Wenger känner sympati med Manchester Citys tränare Roberto Manchini som under veckan har varit påväg bort enligt engelsk press.
"I have sympathy for every manager who has problems because I know what it is like.But that is where you see the strength of a club to stick with people they know are competent and they know do the right things. That’s why there are directors at the club and it is down to Manchester City to trust Mancini. Personally I invite them to do that. They have gone through a difficult patch – three games in a season where you play badly can happen to any manager in the league. What has changed when you spend a lot of money is maybe the pressure comes quicker on a manager than if he doesn’t spend so much.”, säger Wenger.
Walcott har utvecklats
Som många har sett verkar det som Theo Walcott ha fått ordning på sina avslut. Wenger tror att det kommer att komma mer från 21-åringen.
“I believe his finishing has improved a lot because the timing of his runs are much better. I believe like everybody else we were not at our best on Wednesday night but overall I believe he has improved everywhere - in his finishing, even much more because that’s what he prefers to do, you know? I think there is a lot more to come from him.” säger Wenger.
Andy Carrol får beröm
Newcastleanfallaren som bara behöver en mustasch för att fullända sin porrstjärnelook A la David Seaman får beröm av Wenger. På söndag är det nog han som Arsenal främst ska se upp med för att hålla tät. Och Wenger tycker att Fabio Capello borde ta ut honom nästa landskamp.
“Personally, I have been highly impressed by him. He has presence, charisma, confidence. He is intelligent on the ball. I had doubts about him when I saw him one year ago but in the last year he has improved tremendously. He has to show it over a longer distance but I'm convinced Capello will have a look at him. I believe he will be good enough to play for England.”, säger Wenger.
Spelarna
Fabianski är fortsatt fokuserad
Arsenal nuvarande nummer ett Lukasz Fabianski har tack vare Manuel Almunias armbågsskada tagit över i mål. Den polske målvakten har en tuff period bakom sig med många misstag. Men har fortsatt att jobba hårt för att visa att han är en bra målvakt.
"I always say my only thing is to keep working hard and try to play as best as I can, to try to help the team. Of course I have been through a difficult period, but that is life, that is football. You have to just keep working hard and hopefully it will pay off."
Walcott siktar på 20 mål per säsongTheo Walcott har siktet inställt på att göra 15 till 20 mål den här säsongen. Med sju mål den här säsongen har han redan tangerat sitt bästa målfacit från säsongen 07/08. Lägg till då att han har varit skadad i sex veckor också.
Wilshere tackar Owen Coyle
Förra säsongen blev nog inte riktigt som Jack Wilshere hade tänkt sig. På försäsongen var han ofta matchens bästa spelare för Arsenal ändå blev det inte mycket spel för honom under hösten. På vårsäsongen blev han uttlånad till Bolton och under Owen Coyle. Wilshere är tacksam för att Coyle har gav honom chansen vilket innebar att han växte upp.
"I think I owe a lot to Owen Coyle. The spell made me realise it's not all about yourself in a team and you must work for the team. I think Arsene Wenger has seen that as well - it helped me grow up a lot. I think when I went there all I wanted to do was get some experience. They were great up there and helped me a lot.", säger Wilshere.
Injuries
Det börjar ljusna på skadefronten för Arsenal. Fabregas, Denilson, Arshavin och Song som hade lite småskavanker och följde inte med till Ukraina är nu friska och tillbaka. Fabregas ska göra ett test under lördagen men ska kunna spela. I övrigt så tränade Robin van Persie för fullt på fredagens träning men behöver nog nån vecka till för att vara fit for fight. Andra positiva nyheter är att Thomas Vermaelen är bara dagar ifrån att börja träna som vanligt med laget igen. Som tidigare nämnt är Abou Diaby borta på obestämd tid. En lös benbit i foten sätter stop för Diaby som har varit borta till och från hela hösten. De som är skadade är alltså Abou Diaby, Aaron Ramsey, Thomas Vermaelen, Kieran Gibbs, Manuel Almunia och Emmanuel Frimpong. Den skadelistan måste nästan vara den kortaste jag har sett på år och dar.

Stephen Warnock tror på Gibbs
Aston Villas vänsterback Stephen Warnock tycker att Arsenals Kieran Gibbs ska ta över som Englands vänsterback efter att Ashley Cole pensionerar sig. För tillfället är unge Gibbs skadad och missar förmodligen Englands vänskapslandskamp mot Frankrike den 17 november.
"Kieran was injured for the last (England) get-together but I know how highly thought of he is within the set-up and by the players. He is a fantastic talent and he will take over from Ashley Cole in the long run. He's a player in the same mould as Ashley and he will be an ideal replacement. I'm not ruling myself out but, when you see that type of player coming through, you have to hold your hands up and say there's going to be a better player in front of you. I don't know whether that's now or in the next couple of years. That's not my choice to make. But Kieran is more than capable of playing at that level. But you never know what might happen. A lot of people didn't give me a chance of going to the World Cup because they thought Leighton Baines would go.", säger Warnock.
