Aston Villa - Birmingham 4-1 Reservlags serien
Alltid lika kul att publicera vinster mot de onämnbara. Hoppas vi får göra det i PL också.
Denna rapport är skriven av Dave Cooper från läktarplats.
-------------
Excellent performance all round from the usual bunch of kids plus Postma, Berson and Drobny against a fairly experienced Blues team (well I recognised some of them anyway). Not going to do a full match report because it's on the official shite now and I can't really add much to that. We were on top throughout although the opening goal (Gardner) only came in the last minute of the first half. Blues equalised after the break with one of their few shots on goal but Moore, Davis and an own goal (but all credit to Moore for rounding the keeper and putting the ball across to produce it) ensured an easy victory and much grumbling from the few knuckledraggers among a crowd of about 1500 or so.
Ratings (and a "will they make it in the first team" comment):
Postma - Couple of good saves but had a quiet night (7) "Will always be number two until Henderson finally takes over bench warming duties"
Ward - Tenacious little bugger, kept their winger quiet (7) "Probably too small just yet but a definite maybe! Better than Rob Edwards was at this stage"
O'Connor - I've seen him play better, missed a few tackles, passed well enough though (5) "No, will be in the Conference soon"
Cahill - Excellent throughout, but just what us seasoned reserve watchers have come to expect (8) "If Ridgewell can then Cahill can, big, strong and very vocal!"
Drobny - At fault for their goal but okay after that (6) "Nah! Back to Strasbourg m'lad"
Berson - Quietly efficient. Did the dirty work for Davis and hardly put a pass astray (7) "Yes, still looks short of match fitness but could do a job off the bench if needed"
Cooke - Out of position on the right and certainly looks unfit after his injury, poor game tonight (5) "Will need a vast improvement, could be that his chance has passed him by"
Davis - MOTM, ran his socks off and was at the heart of all things good for Villa (9) "On this showing, definitely. The training he has done with the first team is showing"
Moore - Looks like the laziest bugger on the pitch for ages and then suddenly bursts into life and produces magic and goals, took his goal well and was always a threat when running at the defence (7) "Got every chance, the ability is there, let's hope the attitude is as well"
Nix - Never stood out but battled away (6) "Probably not but will only drop a division or two I reckon"
Gardner - Obviously not keen on the left wing as he kept drifting out of position, average game, good goal though. (6) "Walsall bound"
Shane Paul and Aaritalo played towards the end, if Paul can add a litle something else to his amazing turn of speed then he will be a good player, Aaritalo just looks average.
