Mourinho bet inte på mediekrok

Frågorna som skulle skapa skandalrubriker inför matchen mot Arsenal haglade. Men José Mourinho behandlade dem milt.

“I have admiration for the manager. They have already a scouting department well organised for sure, they spend money on the kids and they produce the talent. Of course I respect that.”

Om Wengers kommentarer om Chelsea:
“I don’t know the Wenger type. I cannot criticise people I don’t know. I spoke with Wenger once in Geneva, and I shake hands before and after Arsenal games. Nothing else. I cannot judge a man by his professional comments. I just had better chances to get to know Sir Alex (Ferguson). We were together three times in Geneva, we flew on the same plane, we meet before games, we play more games, with Porto, in the Carling Cup, and the fact that Carlos (Queiros) is the assistant we meet before and after the games, and I admire the man. We just need respect, try to concentrate on ourselves, in our jobs, and try to ignore comments of other people. If you have a special relationship it’s better, but that’s a private thing.”

Om Wengers påstående att Chelsea betalade dubbelt så mycket som Shaun Wright-Phillips är värd:
"I think the English market is a special market. It is not because of Chelsea. It is because it is English football and the English market. In football there are no cheap players. If he was a player from a Portuguese team, a Spanish team, a Belgian team, I'd say he was expensive. When he's English I don't say he is expensive because that is your market."

Om Wright-Phillips:
“For me, he’s even better than I thought. He is more intelligent. He is not just intuitive but he thinks about the game. He understands what you tell him, he’s improving a lot and he is ready to play. He’s not like a new player coming into the unknown.”

Om mediestormen mot vd Peter Kenyons kommentar att årets segrare i Premier League kommer ”från en liten grupp bestående av ett lag:
"What Peter said was taken out of context. But even if it wasn't, his meaning should stay the same. What he said shouldn't disturb anyone. For three years everyone has called me arrogant. Now they say the same thing about Peter. I don't call what he said arrogance. He says what he has in his soul. He says what he wants - this is normal. During the summer I've seen a few players like Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville say they're going to kill Chelsea and become champions. This is absolutely normal and there is nothing wrong with it. Everyone wants to win trophies. Giggs and Neville won nothing last season. This time they want something, what is wrong with that?"

Om Chelseas ljumma intresse för Michael Owen:
"We play with one striker normally and two wingers," said Mourinho. "I made a big investment in Drogba, a player I love, a big investment in Crespo, a player I love. Carlton Cole is a personal bet I want to win and Gudjohnsen can be what I want. So I cannot buy another striker just to say I have five instead of four."

Om kidnappningen av maskoten Stamford the Lion:
“I will give you an answer but only if you use it as intended, as a joke: The mascot was very important because against Bayern Munich I was the mascot.”
