"BRUNO Cazarine has already made a big impression at Coventry City’s training ground where he is on course to earn a contract with the Sky Blues.

The powerful Brazilian centre-forward, who is available on a free transfer after leading the scoring charts for two years running Down Under with Australia’s Sky Blues, Sydney FC, scored the only goal of a full-throttle in-house practise match at Ryton.

“It was 1-0, Cazarine, and I’d take that every week,” revealed manager Andy Thorn who could get the 6ft 2 inch tall striker signed up before the weekend.

“He scored the winner with a header in a training ground game and did really, really well.”

Fans will get the first chance to see the 29-year-old striker in action against Nuneaton Town on Saturday.

Cazarine kan säkert trivas i citys brasilien-inspirerade bortaställ....

“He’ll train again today and Friday and play at Nuneaton,” said the City boss who will also continue to run the rule over a German winger who has also been on trial this week, as well as give new loan signings Reece Brown and Callum Ball their debuts.

“The German lad is quick and sharp, and he’ll play for us at Nuneaton when we can have more of a look at him because it is better seeing them in a proper game.”

But Thorn is delighted with the way his squad is shaping up as he starts to hone in on team shape and tactics.

“All the boys had a really good workout and looked really decent to be fair,” he said reflecting on Tuesday’s training match.

                          Reece Brown

“Reece and Callum did well. Reece looked sharp and Callum is a big unit who gets hold of the ball. Bruno does the same and he’s got some lovely touches, and we look a decent size now as well.

“I mixed the teams up and Kevin Malaga headed everything that moved. The players are really enjoying it because we are into our football stuff as well now. It was an entertaining game with a really good tempo going.

“Both teams created chances in a really quick game. We played half an hour each way and the lads had a really good blow out, so it was really good.”

              Edjenguele

He added: “Cody McDonald came through it OK so he’ll feature at Nuneaton on Saturday, as will Gary Deegan. Bruno will probably play the full 90 but the other lads might play 45.

“William Edjenguele will play 45 and Deegs will come back so we’re going to be taking a few over there and we’re looking forward to it because we always get a competitive game at Nuneaton.”
