Sämsta starten på 59 år
Reading förlorade med 0-1 i lördags mot Bolton och har därmed gjort sin sämsta ligastart sedan 1959. Matchen som sådan var ganska bedrövlig och Clement höll inte tillbaka efter matchen när han pratade med pressen: ”My feeling is that it was impossible for us to have lost that game. They cannot score from that position - it was a throw-in and there was a big lapse in concentration. It was exactly what I said at half time - we might not have a lot of the ball but they can score at any moment. That's what happened and they put 11 men behind the ball and we couldn't find what we needed in that situation. We moved the ball too slowly, we weren't creative enough and didn't get enough for fans to get out their seats. At the end you get the boos that's normal. I felt like booing myself - for what I saw and for me because it was really, really disappointing.”
Nykomlingen Blackburn väntar imorgon på bortaplan och det är redan nästan en match vi inte får förlora. Reading har lånat in yttern Josh Sims från Southampton, han är 21 år och han kan spela på båda kanterna men har främst spelat ute på högerkanten. Lånet är för hela säsongen, han har gjort två matcher för Southamptons U23 redan så han kan gå rakt in i truppen och med tanke på skadorna på McCleary, Aluko och Harriott kanske det kan behövas.
Ilori vilades mot Bolton men jag skulle tippa att han bildar mittbackspar med Moore med Diadom och Blackett/Richards på varsin kant. Det låter som om Barrow kan vara aktuell för spel men vi får se om det blir från start eller inte. I övrigt vet jag inte riktigt vilka som ska få spela, ingen gjorde direkt anspråk på en plats i startelvan senast… Anfallsduon Baldock och McNulty kan få chansen igen, de hade i alla fall några försök till bra kombinationer men de behöver få matcher ihop för att få igång samarbetet på allvar.
Hemmalaget vann i Hull med 1-0 i lördags, målskytten Dack fick dock en smäll och testas matchdagen om han kan spela. I övrigt saknas bara försvararen Williams. Blackburn hoppas bygger vidare på sin fina statstik på hemmaplan mot The Royals, gästerna har bara vunnit en gång på nio försök.
Clement inför matchen: “We’ll look at the opposition, how the players have performed and I’ll pick the team that I think has the best chance of going out and getting a result. I still have a lot of confidence in the players. They are trying hard – there’s no question of that. But trying hard is not enough. We need to find solutions together.”
