LEEDS IN SHOCK BRAZILIAN BID?

GREMIO vice-president Antonio Vicente Martins announced on Saturday night that Leeds have made a bid in excess of £20 million for Brazilian wonderkid Ronaldinho.

The 19-year-old striker, who is contracted to the Brazilian club until the summer of 2001, attracted admirers after scoring nine goals in seven games for Brazil`s Olympic side in their qualification games for Sydney, and has recently been linked with a move to Barcelona.

"We will remain calm and evaluate this proposal," Martins said. "It is not simply a question about finance but also of the development of the player`s career."

The Gremio representative went onto say that Leeds will meet with the Brazilian outfit on Tuesday to discuss the finer points of any deal further.

Leeds have yet to comment on Martins` statement but Whites boss David O`Leary is known to be looking for a striker to fill the void left by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink`s departure in the summer, and has also been linked with a move for Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Ja vad ska man säga? "Those were the days". Idag sammankopplas man istället med spelare som Chris Lucketti...
