Evra inför Marseille
Patrice Evra har varnat sina lagkamrater inför den tuffa bortamatchen mot Marseille i Champions League, och säger att fransmännen inte har något att förlora mot de röda favoriterna.
Ett tufft test väntar United på onsdagskvällen när man möter Olympique Marseille i den första åttondelsfinalen i Champions League. Patrice Evra påpekar att hemmalaget på Stade Velodrome inte har något att förlora när storfavoriterna kommer på besök, och laget har redan besegrat Chelsea på hemmaplan i årets upplaga av mästarnas turnering. Evra har mött Marseille flera gånger under sin tid i Monaco, och är säker på att det blir en tuff match.
“They’re going to be confident of beating us, there’s no doubt about that.
It’s a dangerous game for us because we are favourites and in a way Marseille have nothing to lose. I’ve watched some of their games this season and you can see they are a good team and they have a great manager in Didier Deschamps, who was my coach at Monaco.
He is not afraid of any team and I know he will get his players motivated before the game so they play with no fear. They will give 100 per cent but we are Manchester United and we need to show our qualities. It will be a tough game, but if we are professional and do our job we have a great chance of going through.”
Matchen innebär också en återförening för Gabriel Heinze med sin gamla klubb som han lämnade sommaren 2007. Heinze och Evra kämpade båda om vänsterbackspositionen i United, men slutligen etablerade "Pat" sin plats i startelvan sedan Heinze flyttat till Real Madrid. Han ser fram emot att få träffa sin gamla lagkamrat, men hävdar att vänskapen sätts åt sidan när domaren visslar i pipan.
“Gaby has been playing well for Marseille and I’m pleased for him because it wasn’t easy at first with him being a former Paris Saint-Germain player – PSG have a big rivalry with Marseille.
I think he’ll get a big ovation when he comes back to Old Trafford because he played so well for United. I’m happy to see him doing well, but I don’t want him to win against his old team."
