Ferdinand blickar mot Europa League
Trots att United krashade ut ur Champions League redan i gruppspelet, blickar Rio Ferdinand fram emot Europa League, en turnering han gärna vill vinna.
Härliga Champions League-kvällar kan vi glömma den här säsongen, United spelar nämligen Europa League i fortsättningen, på torsdagar. Resultaten från gruppspelet räckte inte till avancemang, en hård smäll att smälta både för spelarna, tränarna och inte minst fansen.
“We're in the Europa League now and I've always said that whatever competition we’re in we don't enter it to come second or to get knocked out in the early stages. We're always in it to win it and this is no different.
Nights at Old Trafford, under the lights, the Champions League music... that's what you live for. We've gone out early this year and we're disappointed. But we can't blame anyone else but ourselves.
The lads are all devastated to have gone out at this stage of the tournament. But that’s the reality. That’s what’s happened.
We have to look back at the games at Old Trafford. We've not done enough to win those games. The manager's always said that if you don't win your home games you don't deserve to go through. That's the case this season.”
Trots den stora besvikelsen så hävdar Ferdinand att United alltid kommer tillbaka efter svidande förluster.
“That's what this club does. We'll learn from this, dust ourselves down and move to the next game.
We won't dwell on this, although we're massively disappointed at the moment. But we've got massive games coming up and we need to make sure we're in the right frame of mind to win those games.”
