Charlton ger direkt svar på tal: “This is not the home of Manchester City"
“I once had the pleasure of speaking with one of the sheikhs, because I had to bring back the trophy after we won the Club World Cup in 2008. City were playing the Emirates national team here. I was sitting next to the man who bought City, and I was certain he talked to me more about United.”
"No. But I imagine you journalists would. You think, ‘We must encourage City to come on now, they have put a lot of money into the game’. We have a different approach to it.”
“I would say so, yes. When a club spends a lot of money quickly, it takes time for the team to settle down. The interest is in winning the big prizes, and the main prize is the Premier League. But it can still be won by a team producing its own young players and bringing them through. I feel you get a bit of an affiliation with a club when this is taking place, instead of by putting huge money in. That’s what happens at United.”
Avslutningsvis kommentarar han morgondagens match.
“Come hell or high water, when you have Manchester United coming, you look forward to it. You get a feeling, ‘This is the most important day of my life’.”
