Officiellt: Milner till Villa
James Milner är nu klar för våra konkurrenter i Birmingham.
Idag blev James Milner klar för Aston Villa. Ingen utav klubbarna har bekräftat vad övergångssumman ligger på. Medias spekulationer har däremot varit allt från £9 miljoner till £12 miljoner. Det mest sannolika verkar dock vara £10 miljoner. Leeds United, Milner förra klubb, skall också enligt uppgifter ha rätt till cirka 20% utav övergångssumman.
Kevin Keegan har kommenterat det hela på följande vis enligt klubbens officiella hemsida:
"It's not ideal in the short-term but Villa are the buying club and they have paid a lot of money for him and wanted him available for Sunday," the United boss told reporters in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's trip to Arsenal.
"But at the end of the day it was my decision to sell him.
"We got an offer which I felt was good value.
"It might not look like a positive move to fans at the moment but what will happen in the next two to three days will be positive.
"I would not have sold him if it did not move the club forward.
"What has happened is right for everyone, including the player.
"James had a difficult time when you consider he almost signed once and got dragged back at the last minute.
"But he's a fantastic pro and never whinged and just got on with things.
"Villa have got an outstanding player but we have to move on.
"I wish him all the best and I've enjoyed working with him.
"Fans will have mixed opinions but the lad has not done anything wrong.
"He's been a fantastic player for them."
