Ligatiteln inom räckhåll
Manchester United stod för en fantastisk insats mot Chelsea och vann med övertygande 2-1. Spelare som Valencia & Park briljerade, Hernandéz gjorde mål igen, och backlinjen var en ogenomtränglig mur. Ligaledarna är nu endast 1 pinne ifrån ligatitel nr 19, ingen omöjlig uppgift alltså. Kommentarer efter matchen:
Sir Alex: "We do it all the time, take it to the very wire. We could've scored six in the second half!
We had lots of chances but we expected a tough game and got a tough game. I thought we were brilliant and it was a fantastic start. Petr Cech made two fantastic saves but it was a good team performance. When we gave the ball away for their goal, understandably it was a bit nervous but the fans helped us a lot.
We kept creating chances and Wayne Rooney could've scored six. Credit to the players because they deserve it.
They were clear penalty kicks and I can only say if we end up winning the title we didn't need the referees to give us anything and that's even more pleasing.
We just need one point now and I think, knowing the players, they'll get their point - there's no doubt about that.
To win the 19th title would be fantastic. To be the most successful team in the country in terms of championship victories... the minute we won for the first time in 1992/1993, the door opened for us. It's an incredible achievement.
In the next few weeks we've got to be doing some work on Barcelona. But we've got to get a point at Blackburn (first).
Blackburn are fighting relegation and Blackpool as well, so we've got 100 percent respect for those two great clubs. They're neighbours and I don't see them going down but we have to do our job and, if we get a point, I'll be delighted.
Giggs: "It's a massive step forward. Mathematically it’s not done yet but we’re nearly there. We’ve just got to finish the job off, hopefully next week. We’ve got to get one point from the next two games. It’s a great chance for us and we’ll try and get it done as soon as possible.
Blackburn’s a tough place to go but I’m sure we’ll have loads of fans going to that one. It’ll be a great atmosphere, it always is. And as always, we won’t go for the draw, we’ll try and win.
Fifteen, twenty years ago, you’d never have thought it. It’s a great achievement by the club and by the manager to haul back our biggest rivals over the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. We’re nearly there and if we do it, it will be special.
To be honest, it really doesn't bother us (that the team rarely gets enough credit). We all concede that, in the first half of the season, we were not playing brilliantly but we were getting results.
The second half of the season, after Christmas, we've been brilliant. The performances have been brilliant and so have the results.
We've played some great stuff in both the European games and in the league so we don't really care what people say. We know the quality in the dressing room and so does the manager.
We know that we’re capable of playing good football which we did in those two games. I felt that we did that, especially early on in the game.
We knew that we had to just keep attacking because one goal often isn’t enough against a team like Chelsea because of the attacking options they’ve got. You saw the pressure they put us under second half and they got the goal back. We knew that we had to just keep attacking, that’s what we did in the Champions League games.
It’s a great start. It could have been quite easy for us to take our foot off the pedal. But I don’t think we did that. We knew that we needed more than the one goal and it was great to see Vida’s goal go in."

Nemanja Vidic är på väg att leda sitt lag till ligatitel nr 19. Serben själv har haft en otrolig säsong och igår (söndag) nickade han in segermålet mot Chelsea på Old Trafford. Enligt Vidic siktar laget på att vinna titeln borta mot Blackburn på Ewood Park.
“Mathematically it's not (certain) but I think it's a big advantage - six points clear with two games left.
Obviously, we have to focus on the next game against Blackburn already to win the title. We don't want to come to the last game and to be nervous. We have a big advantage and we are nearly there.
It's important, first of all, to win the title. As well, to be captain of Manchester United is a big honour but, to lift the trophy, is even bigger.
I'm just hoping we'll play properly next game and we can celebrate at Blackburn.
I think, sometimes, especially at the end of the season, it's mental tiredness and not so much maybe physical.
The manager felt the team needed a bit of rest and we saw we had great energy, ran a lot and didn't give up in the whole game.
I think it was a great decision by the manager, hopefully when you're winning games, the decisions are good but we are lucky this time that the decision was right.”
