Kammenga skriver om Ölme

"Magnus misses IFK Göteborg. He follows every game they play."

Holländaren Steven Kammenga driver "The Magnus Johansson Fanpage" och här skriver Steven för Alltid Blåvitt om Ölme och hans säsong i FC Groningen.

Ölme’s struggle

It took him seven months to recover from his ankle injury. But 2 December he could play 45 minutes in the second team of FC Groningen. The question everyone has is: ‘Will Magnus stay in Holland or will he go back to Sweden.

Injury

It had to be a good season in 2001-2002, because he played 30 matches in the season 2000-2001. But it would be a bad year. After some small charges against Johansson he got loose gristle in his foot. He could not play with this injury and an operation was necessary. But the doctors in Holland would not operate this injury. He was forced to go to Sweden to be operated upon.

The doctors in Sweden said that the healing process would take up to begin October. But this all would take more time. In September everything looked good for Magnus. His injury healed very nice. But after he jogged his ankle got thick. Petra, his wife, who is learning to be a physiotherapist, warned Magnus for this to happen. When I visited him after this he looked a bit worried, but it would be all right he said.

After half November he started to train again with the ball and there was a rumour that he would sit on the bench against SC Heerenveen. But Erik Damhof, the physiotherapist of FC Groningen, made clear that this would not happen.

It would be funny if this would happen, because the last match he played before his injury was on 24 April 2002. The opponent in this away match was SC Heerenveen.

The first match
But the 2nd December he was ready. He started in the game with the second team of Groningen against the second team of Volendam, the number one in this competition.

He started in the position of last defender. He played a good game 'til a bad thing happened. A back pass of Magnus to the keeper was misunderstood and this would lead to the 0-1. An attacker of Volendam 2 saw this happen and could get the ball and he lobbed the ball over the keeper. After this goal he played in the position of right defender.

His first 45 minutes where not as he planned them to be. The second half “Ölme” did not play. FC Groningen 2 could score a goal in the second half and the match ended in 1-1.

Decision
At the end of the season Johansson’s contract will end and what will he do? In his contract there are some conditions about when he has to stay. If he will play less then 16 games in the first squad he is free to leave. If he plays more then 15 games he has to stay another year.
I don’t think he will play more then 15 games so the decision is his to make. In an interview last year he said that he would like his son to go to a Swedish school. This would mean that he has to go back when Lucas, his son, turns four. Lucas was born in 2000, so they have to go back in 2004. This would mean that he could stay one more season. But Magnus misses IFK Göteborg. He follows every game they play.

We can only wait till the end of this season. But whatever his decision will be, he will take it in good consideration.
