Hi Kristinn!
You´ve been almost exactly two years in Halmstad now, how do you like it here and what´s the biggest difference from life in Iceland?
I like it in Halmstad. I like the city and specially in the summer. Life is not so much different from life in Iceland. Of course the weather is better. You are close to big cities so it´s more things you can choose from to do in your free time. Otherwise there is no big cultural difference or something like that.
You had a very successful first year in Halmstad - always playing from the start and scoring 7 goals and making 5 assists. How was the adaption to Swedish football and the level of the game compared to what you were used to?
The biggest difference was the physique and tempo. But I think I adapted pretty quick during the season and had a successful first year.
Last season you were mostly left outside the starting squad – what would you say was the main reason that 2013 wasn´t such a good year for you?
It is hard to say. Maybe things didn't go so well for me in the beginning of the season. Then I didn't play so much, so that also played a part of the season not being so good. But that’s football sometimes.
To the relegation matches against GIF Sundsvall you were back in the team which raises the hope among many HBK-supporters before the season in 2014. It feels like you are one of the players with the greatest potential in the squad. What would you say is “the key” to get more out from your game in the coming season?
In the last few games I played a bigger part and felt that I did well. It was really important to me to finish the season on a positive note and I will take that with me in to 2014. The key is to play a lot, so you can get your confidence up and start performing on your highest level. I hope I will get trust direct in preseason and show what I am capable of this year.
Looking at your statistics i can´t help but wonder if winger is the right place on the field for you. You seem more like a goal scorer to me and I’ve also heard that you are the best “finisher” in the team. Do you think that winger is the best position to get the most out of your potential?
I used to play striker when I was younger, and in my team in Iceland, before I came here, I played as a left winger in 4-3-3. I personally would like to play a little bit higher on the field and have more chances of scoring and making assists to use my full potential. But we play 4-4-2 here in HBK and we have very good strikers so I can't make any demands that I should start there. And as long as we play 4-4-2 I am happy to play as a pure winger. If I'm on the pitch then I'm happy. Then maybe the coach will try something different this year, we´ll never know.
What is your own expectations, both personally and for Halmstads BK in 2014?
My expectations for the team this year, is that we stay away from the relegation battle and aim for a higher position in the table. I would like to go further in the cup as well. My expectations is to play more, prove people wrong and show that I have the quality to do well in Allsvenskan.
