Intervju med Nick Angell
Jon Åkerman har intervjuat Arbogas succéjänkare.
Hi Nick, how are you?
- I'm great, it took a little bit to get used to US-life again.
What have you done after the season with IFK Arboga was over?
- I am going to school and finishing up my degree, I have to take two classes and then I'm all done.
Are you pleased with this season in Arboga?
- As far as life in Arboga I had a great time, the community really welcomed me and it was a great
experience.
If you get an offer for playing for IFK Arboga the next season, would you accept this offer?
- Of course I would accept the offer. But the offer has to
be a good offer. Last year I had a rather low paying contract and coming from the US you have to play one year to prove yourself.
If you doesn`t get any offer from Arboga would you stay and play in USA?
- I played my first year professional in the US and it was 81 games in 25 weeks so it gets to be a long season. I would like to play in Sweden again.
Which player do you think was the best player in Arboga this season?
- I think Bjorkman. Here is a guy who has his family two hours away and he is driving to Arboga and makes it to every practice. He is a great player, and a teamplayer. Sometimes the topplayers are not always teamplayers.
- Bjorkman will do anything to help the team win and he did that many times. His contributions to the team both on and off the ice can not be messured.
What is the best with the town Arboga and thier fans?
- I think the best thing about the town is the fans and the amount of support that they give to the team. When I was playing I always felt that I was apart of something
special.
You got injured at the end of the season. Is it alright now or is it some complication still?
- No, my knee is completely fine. In fact I hadn't thought
about it for quite some time.
Which position do you like the most, defense or forward?
- I am a defensemen and prefer playing defence. But in with this season there was a need for someone to play tough and aggressive so that Iggy and Sem could get some more opportunities to score.
Do you have plans to visit Arboga?
- I haven't booked any trips, but hopefully the next time I will be in Arboga will be for springtraining for next season.
You play like a forward was very impresing. Did you like to play forward?
- No not so much but I think it was best for the team so I moved up and just tried to give 100% everygame.
Do you know why you play forward instead for defense which you where contract to play?
- Because Iggy and Sem needed an aggressive player that
could get them the puck.
Do you have a job in USA?
- Yes I currently work for "Volkswagen of America".
What did you family think about Sweden and Arboga?
- Both my parents were from small town so they felt really comfortable in Arboga. Mom was just happy to spend some time with me and dad wanted to see all the historical stuff. He loved the Gamla Stan and Vasa.
If you have the opertunity to play in Arboga next season. Would you rather play forward or defence?
- Don't know, i need a contract first.
There is a rumour about among the fans that if you should come back to play with Arboga you should take american hockeyplayer with you. And that you has demand more money than you got last year. Is something about this
true?
- Arboga offered me a contract that was a middlecontract. Most of the players have longer contracts than mine which is 6 months so in the long run i make a lot less than the other players. I said i would take less money and bring over an american i played with in my first proseason. Like me, he has AHL-experiance. Other than that i dont want to say too much more.
Is it true that you have demand more money if you should play for Arboga next year?
- Yes, that is true.
Which team in the last season was the best in "södra allsvenskan"?
- Well Mora won and has moved up but I don't think they were the most talented team, but they were the team that played the best together and that is what counts.
What do you think about Mora and their chanses in the top league "elitserien" next year?
- Don't really know.
Is there something you want to say to the fans in Arboga?
- Thank you so much for all your support, we had highs and lows last season but you stuck with at home games and road trips and I know we are all very thankful.
We thank you for taken your time to answers this question and wish you a good luck the next season.
