Intervju: Ryan Gunderson

Intervju med Brynäs andra nyförvärv - Amerikanen och spelskicklige backen Ryan Gunderson som hämtades in från hockeyallsvenska Örebro till nästkommande säsong.

Eftersom jag gick ut gymnasiet för ca 13 år sedan och jag sällan eller aldrig använder engelska i vardagen så får ni ha överséende med stavfel och vissa ord och uttal som inte är perfekt. Huvudsaken är att ni förstår sammanhanget och det allmänna överhängande temat i frågor och svar. Dessutom befinner sig Ryan själv just nu på skidsemester i Åre och hade endast tillgång till iphone när svaren skrevs. Mycket nöje.

Hi there Mr Gunderson. A big and warmthly welcome to Gävle and Brynäs IF. Hope you`ll enjoy your stay here.

Tell us a little bit more about yourself? - I am pretty laid back, I like to spend a lot of time with teammates an friends and just relax.

After what i have heard, MoDo also were wery interested in you, but in the last second you choosed Brynäs. Why Brynäs? - A lot had to do with the style of play here which I think I will fit into pretty well.

You are american but would you consitter your hockeyskills as more euoropean alike? - Ya I think I fit in better into the European style of play better than I do the north American game. There seems to be a bit more skill and puck control over here with a little less physical play.

What are your biggest skills as a hockeyplayer? - I think my skating and passing are probably my two best skills.

What are your feelings about Sweden as a country? - I like Sweden a lot. Day to day it is not really that much different from home and everyone here has been helpful and friendly.

Is Elitserien your main biggest goal? Or are your purpise to play in the NHL in the future? - My goal has just been to play at the highest level I can. Right now I will just work on proving myself at the elitserien level.

Have you represant the USA world national team att younger age? - No

What do you know about Brynäs IF as a club? - I have heard a lot about the history and success of the club. Everyone talks a lot about it being a classic club in sweden.

Beside hockey, what`s your biggest interests? - I wouldn't say I have any real hobbies but I end up doing a lot of different things with friends.

In Örebro you played a lot of powerplay, scored a lot of goals and making points. You are quaite of an offensive defensman Ryan? - I am for sure an offensive minded defenseman. We had a good powerplay unit in örebro so that certainly helped me pick up some points.

Is there something special about your hockeyplay that you want to develop and do better? - I think I can always work on improving my defensive play.

I know that you hav lived in Sweden for just more than a year. But do you speak any swedish, a word or two maybe? - I can read quite a bit of Swedish and understand some but it's been pretty tough trying to learn to speak it.
