Hey, what's up Jared?
He came from Leksand to Örebro last season and he had a great season. He got the Örebro MVP award and a lot of people say he's the best player in the league. Can he do it better this season?
Hi Jared!
How's your summer been?
My summer was a great one. I spent a lot of time with my family, friends and a lot of time on my new boat making memories with the people I am closest too. My days were spent with a hard morning of training on and off the ice, and then to the water to enjoy some wake surfing and rest/recovery time on my boat. I also recently met an amazing girl who is now my girlfriend and someone I consider my best friend. She is beautiful on the inside and out. My sister got married to a great guy this summer in Calgary, so I now have another brother in the family as well. I guess you can say that this summer was a great success!
How did you come up with the idea of your training blog?
A lot of fans reached out to me asking about my training and what I am doing to be the best I can be for this season. It got to the point where people wanted to see what I was doing and asked me if I would blog about it. I decided that it was a great way for me to share my training life with the people who are always supporting me and I had a lot of fun doing it.
With player in the team do you think will improve the most this season?
I think Johan Adolfsson is looking very confident and ready to make a positive statement this year. He is a very hard working guy whose talent sometimes gets over looked. I think he will continue being a threat everywhere on the ice, but his goal totals will go up to 10 or more.
Do you have any personal goals this season?
My goals for this season are to be a consistent player in both ends of the arena and to be a positive leader for my teammates. It's a must that I bring offense to the team but its just as important to be strong defensively. Obviously the biggest goal is to finish what we as a team started last year and to advance to the Elite league. To do that we have to focus on everyday individually and not look far ahead.
Do you have any other goals you haven't achieved yet, that you want to achieve before you retire from the game of hockey?
I feel like I have accomplished my goal as a hockey player. I always wanted to turn my passion into a career and I have managed to do that. My dream was to always play in the NHL and I was fortunate to accomplish that. My goal now is just to have fun and to become a winner wherever I am.
Who's your favorite hockey player of all time?
My favorite hockey players growing up were Joe Sakic and Steve Yzerman. Two very talented players that always put their team first but still managed to accomplish great things both individually and with their teams.
What do you like to do on your free time when you don't practice or playing hockey?
Here in Sweden most of my free time is spent at Java. I love people watching and the great atmosphere that both Andreas and David create in their coffee house. They have welcomed me there with open arms and it's great! I also love to watch movies, listen to music, walk around the city and talk to my family, friends and girlfriend on Skype.
What kind of music do you like?
I listen to all music except for the really heavy heavy metal stuff. Anything I can dance to, sing along with or relate to is my kind of music. I guess you can say my iPod has everything.
Are you interested in any other sport's then hockey?
I grew up playing all sports and my 2nd love was always for the game of Lacrosse. It is a lot like hockey and if I could still be playing both I would be. I have a respect for athletes in all sports and I am a fan of talent, handwork and people who play with a passion no matter what sport it is that I am watching.
What's your favorite dish?
My favorite dish is a steak in my brothers very own marinade that they created, with a salad and a special type of sweet potato dish that my sister and her husband Layne created. For starters I absolutely love my moms Baked garlic with melted Brie chefs on sliced baguettes.
Do you have any other talents that we fans don't know anything about?
My hidden talent might just be my dancing. Im sure some fan's may have seen me dancing and from what I'm told, I'm pretty good at it.
How come you came to Sweden to play hockey in the first place?
I came to Sweden to play hockey because the respect and appreciation for skill is great out here. Both the fan's and players want to see you be creative and when you are you are not being criticized for it or having a guy on the other team wanting to rip your head off. It's fun to be able to use creativity and skill to make things happen on the ice and to be appreciated for it. Plus part of my background is Swedish, so it is a great to see and live in the country of my ancestors.
What about Örebro HK that made you sign a new contract?
I re-signed here in Orebro because I have never felt so appreciated by the city, fans, coaches and my teammates in my whole career. I love it here and my goal is to live my life with a smile on my face. Playing here and living here in Orebro, that goal of smiling is very easy for me. Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so welcome!!
I asked some of the Örebro fans if they had anything they wanted to know about Jared and here are those questions.
What do you want us fan's to improve so we can help you guys on the ice in a better way?
It's always important for the fans to get a feel for the game. If the game seems quiet and slow, we need the fans to get involved and be loud to make it a more exciting atmosphere because it excites us as players. It is also very important to bring someone who has never been to a game before because maybe that way they will like it and we will be playing in front of a sold out arena every game.
With team in the swedish Allsvenskan do you have the most fun playing against?
I don't have a favorite team to play against. I just love stepping on the ice every game knowing that I get to live my passion for another day.
How was the Örebro fans at Stena cup? Did we help? (don't mind the last game against Malmö) ;)
If our fan's were not at the Stena Cup it would have been a tough environment to play in. Our fan's brought some energy to the building and we are thankful for that.
What are your thought's about the fight between the coach and and the american player in Stena Cup? Did you noticed it?
I didn't see the fight with the player and the coach but I find it embarrassing. Every coach and player aren't always going to get along but that is the worst way to handle it. At the end of the day I don't know all of the facts so I can't point fingers at anyone. Only those 2 will know the truth behind it all.
5 quick one's!
Score a goal or assist?
I love to score more, but I love the feeling of assisting someone else too.
Home made food or restaurant?
If its my moms cooking than homemade for sure. Here in Sweden I eat at Java all the time.
Summer or winter?
Summer.
City or the country side?
City, but not a far drive from the lake!
Canada or Sweden?
Canada is where I grew up so I have to commit to my home country but Sweden is a very close 2nd.
I want to thank Jared for helping me with this and I hope anyone that read this enjoy's it as much as I enjoy'd doing the whole thing. I also want to wish Jared good luck this season and I hope you have a great time I Örebro one's again.
