SEASON TICKETS: WHAT'S HAPPENING?
It is a fact: this year Fiorentina will lose the 5th place concerning number of supporters. Looking at the impressive market-operations done by Lucchesi (Ujfalusi, Jorgensen, Miccoli on the top) this is once more very strange.
So I interviewed some friends, all of them supporters of Fiorentina, to show the visitors of Tifosi Viola Scandinavia, their opinions about the whole thing.
The principal problem is economic: with 230 euros for a place in Curva Ferrovia, the Viola's season-ticket is the most expensive in the entire Serie A. You should consider that these kinds of places are required by people with a low budget. Anyway, the Fiesole is already complete and Ferrovia is close to be. It means there is an "outflow" from Maratona and Tribuna, usually destined to the high and middle class. The economic crisis is quite far to be solved and people want to save money as much as possible.
Another very interesting point is the competition "television versus stadium". A lot of people prefer to buy a game on Sky or some other card and watch the matches in their homes with their friends (no rain, no cold, no crazy rivals and so on).
Last but not the least, there is the love for the national sport in Florence: the polemics.
For people who are not from Florence, not only foreigners, this could be the most difficult thing to understand and also for me to explain. No-one has the same opinion about Della Valle and his collaborators. There are those who would like to buy Rui Costa or Batistuta (and I don't say anything about Baggio.), those who think that Maresca is too "gobbo" to play for Viola, some see in Della Valle only a foreign invader, fan of Inter and too-much-a friend of Moratti to be President.
In my opinion, DDV should be patient, remembering that the team had 30.000 and more supporters only when Fiorentina was playing in Champions League. On the other hand, the supporters must stop criticizing DDV referring to him as "braccino"! (The expression "braccino" or "braccino corto", literally "short arm", in Florence means to be greedy).
