Fiorentina - Sampdoria 2-1
Vår man i Florens, Lapo Mecacci, är tillbaka. Han såg lördagskvällens match på plats och låter oss - som vanligt - ta del av en hel del åsikter angående Fiorentina.
Cloudy day in Florence. Before the match starts, Curva Fiesole hymns "Il ragazzo gioca bene" (the guy plays well) to the ex enfant prodige of the Viola's people, Francesco Flachi, born and grown up in Florence, actually captain of Sampdoria.
Fiorentina shows a very nice game-quality, something that´s been missing for a long time, from the beginning of the match against an opponent who is supposed to be one of the most organized in the entire Serie A (apart from the Big Three, the most of the experts agree Sampdoria could be the 4th strongest team). Especially on the right side, the combination Ujfalusi-Fiore seems able to hit the Genoa team hard. But, quite obviously, the attention of most is caught by the forward duo, Pazzini & Toni. And after a few minutes they show their quality: Pazzini has a remarkable agility, Toni is a "God's Fury", he is terrific: every ball passes from his feet, making it possible, for the other players, to try to score and he shows to be one of the best central forwards actually in the Italian League. It is so clear that Viola's supporters start to sing the old-fashioned "Toni-gol" and the collective memory goes back to the never-forgotten Bati...
Due to a Toni's action, Viola scores: great shot from the forward, good answer from "Batman" Antonioli (the goalkeeper of Samp) but Fiore is well placed and he is able to hit the ball with his head. The score increases few minutes later with a penalty obtained and executed by Toni (impressing his velocity and strength too).
The first half ends with the net sensation that Fiorentina can win easily and probably 2-0 is too strict a result for the home team.
Things change in the second half: Novellino is not "novellino" (the name of the Samp coach means "beginner" in hilary sense) and he knows how to stimulate his team. Probably Viola players are too much self-confident (Dainelli...crazy guy!) and the Samp-players conquer the midfield, helped by an obvious weariness showed by Brocchi (very good performance anyway) and Donadel (a nice surprise). The absence of a central forward in Sampdoria explains why the doriani cannot concretize their superiority, hitting the post with Kutuzov. But after that, Diana, one of the best right-wingers in the Serie A, scores and the agitation spreads around the Viola: “oh no, see Sampdoria is going to get a draw!!”
Fortunately it doesn't happen and the match ends after 45+6' in which Bojinov (at the place of Pazzini, who did 2 terrible mistakes in front of the goal) too can score but the ball hits the post and goes out.
In my opinion, Fiorentina showed to be a well-trained team, Prandelli is a modern and able coach, one can really see his hand in the game quality (no long shoot to the central forward, but short touches between all the players). OK Ujfalusi right side defender, very good the forwards (Bojinov seems to be a little bit fat...no more dinner for him! I am not convinced yet by the midfielders, there are no leaders and they are few: what if Brocchi will be injured? Pazienza? It seems to me an hazard game, I hope Corvino will buy someone like De Rossi (Roma) or Giacomazzi (Lecce).
It was remarkable to see two teams with most of the players being both young and Italian (a good thing looking to the World Cup). Please, no more players like Helguera, Nakata, Vryzas et similia!
The only thing Fiorentina doesn't need is well-paid tourists like the three above...
