Interview with Lorenzo Giannini, Writer/Freelancer at @laroma24.it
Today´s text contains everything from James Pallotta and hi´s ownership, to the exciting mercato in the summer.
1. Well first of all, how do you feel about the restart of the season?
Lorenzo: The recovery of the season, for the club, is a good thing in my opinion and everyone was hoping to start again. Roma need it from an economic point of view and finishing the season still gives them hope of fourth place and qualifying for the next Champions League. From a human point of view it will be strange to see the team taking to the pitch without fans. The Olimpico without the Curva Sud won't be the same.
2. What do you expect from Roma in the last games, to be honest do they have a chance at top 4?
Lorenzo: I think Roma can make it to the top four. There are still twelve games left to go at the end of the season and fourth place is now only three points away, even though Atalanta have one game less. Playing every three days won't be easy for anyone, but Fonseca have time and way to prepare the team for this season finale.
3. I know you follow the mercato closely, what deals should Roma look in to in the summer?
Lorenzo: I believe that this year the trade will be very particular. Roma will play the league until the end of July and we hope to make it all the way into the Europa League. The market will be influenced by these factors, also Pallotta could sell the club or find new members. In this context Petrachi seems to have the task of cutting salaries too high and focusing on players who don't weigh too heavily on Roma's coffers. First we'll have to sell and then we'll see who to buy. Players like Pedro and Bonaventura, whose contracts expire at the end of the season, could be two trade targets on Roma. But I also hope to see some interesting young players next year.
4. Last but not least, who´s your favourite player in todays Roma?
Lorenzo: Tough question. This year I think my favourite player is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. His purchase, in my opinion, was the best of last year's trade and he is showing his qualities on the pitch every match. He's suffered a few injuries this year, but I hope to see him again in the final part of the season.
