NBA Bloggen: Lillard blir historisk
Nästa helg väntar All-Star Weekend och Portland Trail Blazers superstjärna Damian Lillard ser ut att bli historisk genom att delta i samtliga events.
Damian Lillard, det kanske största fyndet från 2012 års draft, har verkligen lyft Portland Trail Blazers under sin korta tid i NBA. Han blev årets rookie förra säsongen och nu tänker han bli historisk under nästa helgs All-Star Weekend genom att delta i samtliga "grenar": dunktävling, Skills Challenge,3-poängstävlingen, Rising Stars Shallenge och All-Star Game, något som ingen annan tidigare har gjort.
Lillard sa till USA Today att han bara vill ta tillvara på alla möjligheter som kommer hans väg.
- A lot of people don't get the opportunity. So I just felt like it was something that had never been done, and I'm capable of doing all the things that need to be done in all the competitions, so I figured why not go out and be the first one to do everything and get that experience?
Många har undrat hur han ska orka med alla grenar, men Lillard menade att det nog ska gå bra:
- The skills competition takes two minutes on the court, the dunk contest maybe will be three or four minutes on the court, and three-point shooting is about two minutes. And it's not like the rookie-sophomore game is a real regular season game, so I mean I'm looking at maybe an hour total of actual activity with all five things. People think there's more energy being exerted than there actually is. It's really not that much when you think about the time that you actually spend doing it.
Lillard sa också att han ser mest fram emot 3-poängstävlingen, men där får han nog se sig som underdog mot Stephen Curry. Men räkna med att han kommer att vara huvudprofil i de flesta tävlingarna som hålls nästa helg i New Orleans.
