Keown till Reading
Ännu en gammal ikon skriver på för resten av säsongen
Martin Keown skrev idag på ett kontrakt som löper till slutet av denna säsong. Han kommer att spela (?) med tröja nummer 5.
Ordförande Madejski sa följande till den officiella klubbsiten: "This is an excellent signing for the club and Martin's presence gives Steve Coppell another very strong defensive option as we approach the critical period of the season. He has achieved so much and his experience will be of enormous benefit to the squad. He is a natural winner, and I hope his attitude and desire will have a positive effect on all our players as we aim to bring Premiership football to the Thames Valley.
Martin has been playing regularly for Leicester in recent weeks, and although it is a shame he is cup tied for this weekend's game, it will give him time to get to know his new team-mates ahead of our important game against Plymouth next weekend."
Keown sa bl a detta: "Reading are challenging for promotion and seeing the players they have, the ideas they have and the professionalism at the club it was the perfect place for me to go,"
Jag ser det här mest som en kortsiktig lösning som backup till våra ordinarie mittbackar. De kan säkert lära mycket av Keown som har en diger meritlista. Men till sommaren måste vi skaffa en ny mittback igen... Om nu inte Mullins och Castle utvecklas så pass mycket att de kan steget in i A-lagstruppen.
