Vår käre ägare köper Lita för sina egna pengar
Idag blev det äntligen klart att vi köper 20-årige Leroy Lita från Bristol City. Lita gjorde förra säsongen 29 mål för City och vi har varit ute efter honom under en längre tid. Vår ägare och ordförande John Madejski tog pengar ur egen ficka, det talas om cirka £1 miljon och övergången blev klar idag.
Steve Coppell sa bl a detta efter köpet: This is the biggest signing in our history and I commend chairman John Madejski for providing the funds. Leroy has great pace and is an excellent finisher who can create something out of nothing. He is an emerging talent who is hungry and determined, and we hope that he can fulfil his potential here. His record speaks for itself, and goals were the main thing that let us down last season so we hope he can provide plenty of them.
Madejski sa följande: Leroy is an extremely exciting talent and it has taken a lot of hard work to secure his services because Bristol City were very reluctant to let him go. This is a major investment for Reading and the fact that we have spent £1m for the first time is a significant milestone. I am sure our supporters are greatly looking forward to seeing him in action. I am delighted to welcome Leroy to Madejski Stadium and wish him the very best of luck.
