[1] FA CUP FINAL TOMORROW - WEAR BLACK!
The United supporters' coalition of IMUSA, Shareholders United, Red Issue, UWS and Red News calls on United supporters to don all-black garb (wear black clothes) at the FA Cup Final, as a symbol of the support's distress at Malcolm Glazer's takeover of the club. Before the match United fans are called to a rallying point outside the centrally-based Prince Of Wales pub (get there for 11.30 if you can), where leaflets will be distributed detailing the latest information on Glazer's moves and courses of protest action supporters can undertake.
The supporters' coalition wishes to make clear that it has no intention of encouraging disruption of the match itself. One of the core issues for United fans is that Glazer will show no respect to our club's history and tradition, so it would remiss of fans to do anything that could taint such an intrinsic part of the English football's tradition.
The coalition urges United supporters to continue the on-going successful campaign of boycotting United's key commercial backers. Glazer's business model is balanced on a knife-edge and only needs a nudge to push it over the edge.
[2] SU PLAN 'B'
Having reached 75% shareholding we now await Glazer's offer document. Of course plan A was to deter Glazer from bidding in the first place because it would save a lot of damage to our club. However he is now able to transfer huge debts onto our club's books and then use supporters contributions (tickets, merchandise and indirectly through sponsorship) to pay off his debts.
Nobody has been able to find an independent financial commentator (stockbroker/analyst/economist) who can see how Glazer is going to make his business plan work. The interest payments alone are just too big to repay from Manchester United profits. So it is only a matter of time before he will fail. It could be a drawn out and painful process which will ultimately do more damage to our club but if we can help to reduce his income then we may be able to bring things to a swift and merciful conclusion. That is why we are advocating withholding spending on merchandise and sponsors (and also tickets for those who feel they can).
With this in mind it is not unreasonable to assume that Manchester United may well be back 'on the market' in the near future - and very possibly at a knock down price. That is why we are working on the establishment of 'The MUFC Phoenix Fund' so that exisiting shareholders who choose or are forced to sell can place their money on deposit in a high interest investment account ready to buy back into Manchester United when Glazer fails. Adding to these funds with fundraisng activites and alternative merchandise as
well as further investment from members we could have a sizeable 'war chest' which could be leveraged to buy a significant chunk of Manchester United when the opportunity arises. Lets make that opportunity arise as soon as possible.
