AIK-s tränare kritiserar Wilsons flytt
"I think it is the wrong way to go". Alex Miller tror att Wilson kommer att få det tufft i Liverpool.
AIK-s tränare Alex Miller kom senast från Liverpool där han varit i nio år. Vad som däremot förmodligen är hyfsat okänt för gemene man är att Miller spelade i Rangers mellan 67-82 och var lagkamrat med bland annat Alex Ferguson, John Greig och Derek Johnstone. Miller har därför bra koll på både Liverpool och Rangers och tror att Wilson gjorde ett misstag när han valde att gå till Liverpool:
“I think it is the wrong way to go. I know that people will say, ‘How do you turn down a move to Liverpool?’ but it is not a move to the Liverpool first team. He will go down there and without a doubt be on the periphery of the senior side. That is no good. For young players to keep developing they need to be playing in the first team, as simple as that. My fear would be that without that he will stagnate. He certainly won’t be learning the way he would if he was playing week-in, week-out"
Vidare fortsätter Miller med jämföra Wilsons situation med John Collins när Miller tränade Hibernian:
"When I was manager of Hibernian, John Collins wanted a move. I told him he wasn’t ready for it, that he needed more time to learn the game. He took the advice and when he did get the move to Celtic he went into the first team and was a big player for them. He went on to have a fantastic career, but every player needs to have a good grounding first."
Alex Miller har redan blivit känd i Sverige på grund av sina öppenhjärtliga uttalanden i svensk media och går även hårt mot Wilson. Samtidigt så kan Miller i denna sak få rätt. Efter sin fantastiska fjolårssäsong blev Wilson given i startelvan och hade i år fått mycket speltid både i SPL och Champions League men man kan ändå förstå att det är svårt för en spelare att tacka nej till spel i Premier League.
