Då matchen inte sändes på Canal+ och då vår man på plats (Patrik) inte hunnit hem ännu så bad jag vår vän Alex Channon betygsätta helgens lag.
Alex, som är ordförande för The Manchester City Centenary Supporters Association, skrev också ganska intressanta kommentarer så därför får han en egen artikel:
Hi Richard
sorry you couldn't see yesterdays game. I wouldn't say we were brilliant but we were very good. We played much better against Newcastle last week. I don't want to be too critical because we did play well but Middlesborough had several players out injured and they seemed a poor team. Although we only conceded a late consolation goal I felt our defence looked suspect at times against a weak attacking team. Personally, whilst I think Scheichel and Joe Hart have done well I would like to see Isaksson in the team asap. I think his experience could be important to us.
However, Sven has created a well organised side with great flair. Elano is outstanding and looks a bargain at 8 million pounds stirling. He scored 2 fantastic goals and was at the centre of all our best football. We always look as though we are going to score whenever we go forward and all the players work their socks of for the team.
Although we always had control of the game I felt we took our foot of the pedal at times and sometimes seemed over confident.
Kevin Keegan produced a great team to watch when we were in the old first division but this is the Premiership and is much much harder to perform in so it's 10 out of 10 for Sven. We are great to watch and appear to be getting better all the time. Now that we are 9 games into the season and 3rd in the league I don't believe people can say we are a 'flash in the pan'.
I think we can now start to believe we could qualify for Europe. I doubt that any team in this country can break into the top 4 but the next 2 places could be taken by any team that can score goals and show some consistency.
