Om Robinho:
I was as delighted as every City fan that we were able to bring Robinho to the Club, as he is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world. I have said all along that in order to compete with the best teams in the Premier League we have to be in the market for the highest calibre of player – and Robinho certainly falls into that category. Having such a talent here will also be a huge benefit to the rest of the squad, there was a real buzz at training the day after his signing was completed and the lads know that they will have to raise their games with the added competition. I think that is fantastic that we are bringing world-class players here and if you ask any club about bringing those sorts of players in, the effect is always positive. The guys already here know that the bar has been raised and I know that will rise to the challenge.
- I think there’s a fair chance that he will be involved at some point! We need to see if he, along with the others are back fit and well, but the intention is that he plays a part.
- By all accounts he did not pick up any injuries and played the full 90 minutes on Wednesday night, I’ve seen the highlights, but we should get a full report on it.
- The impression when you watch him play is that as soon as he gets the ball, you sense that something is going to happen. I think everyone will see that at the weekend.
- On the day I met him, one of the first things he said was that he could not wait for the game because he wanted to play against Chelsea, which can only be a good thing.
Om Shaun Wright-Phillips:
Before all the excitement at the end of the transfer window, we brought Shaun Wright-Phillips back to Manchester City and I don’t think the script could have been written any better for him! His performance against Sunderland made it look like he had never been away, and I know just how much everyone is looking forward to seeing him back in a sky blue shirt at the City of Manchester Stadium. It’s nicely set up for him with his old side visiting today, he may have a point to prove but I am sure that the reception he will get will just add to what is going to be an amazing atmosphere today.
- Shaun has nothing to prove in tomorrow's game, he said. All the lads with whom he played as Chelsea and the people there know he is an exceptionally talented footballer.
- We are just delighted that he is back. The impact he had against Sunderland was incredible. You couldn't have written that script. It was great for him and I know he is really excited about going up against Chelsea tomorrow as we all are.
- I am sure he will get a great reception. His home coming in terms of the media has been slightly overshadowed by Robinho and what has happened off the field but come the game I am sure there will be an outstanding reception for him.
