“Our objective is to qualify for the next round. We had a very good example last season, to be first or second doesn’t matter. We were first, thought we could get an easy draw for the first round, and we got Barcelona, for sure one of the best teams in Europe.
“Imagine in this Group if you have to play the first or second of Juventus or Bayern Munich. It doesn’t matter. To come first or second is all that matters.
“Tomorrow is a game where you play to win, you play to get three points, but if you get one it’s not a bad result, and if you lose it is not a drama because you still have three points. The motivation is to get nine points.”

Om matcher mot Liverpool:
“Every game was very close, the result was always a minimum difference, but it is 3-1. In five matches we beat them three times they beat us once and we draw once.
“The games are very, very close all the time. They defend well, we defend well. They start with Crouch or they start with Crouch on the bench, it depends the style they use. But we are a team without secrets. We play 4-3-3 all the time. I confirm tomorrow the same, Lampard, Makelele, Essien in midfield.
“I think tomorrow again the game will be a small distance in the result. I think tomorrow no-one wins 3 or 4-0 because (we have) two good teams. Unless something extraordinary happens, like for example Lyon-Real Madrid.”

Om att vinna över Chelsea:
"I read somewhere that Liverpool know how to beat us but again I say it is 3-1 to us, so they also know how to lose."

Om Rafael Benitez:
“I like him very much as a colleague, as a person. I’m happy with his success if his success doesn’t interfere with my success. I did UEFA Cup and Champions League in two consecutive years and he did the same.”

Om Benitez är en “Special One”:
“I think so, he had success in Valencia, he had success in Liverpool with trophies, I think so.”

Om antipatierna mot Chelsea:
“I read Peter Crouch say it was England against Chelsea. "It is just my players, people on the Kings Road and the Fulham Road and the 50,000 people back in my home town of Setubal who will be for Chelsea and after them, it is the world against us."

Om Champions League-matchen på Anfield förra året:
“It was a great atmosphere, I respect a lot Liverpool fans, but to be fair last season in the Premiership the atmosphere was the same and we beat them. And the person who showed more influence in the Champions League was the linesman.”

Om markering av långe Peter Crouch:
“I think I’m going to put a small guy to mark him in the air because a big guy will lose. John Terry cannot beat him. It is better that I put Maka, and John Terry can mark someone else.”

Om Champions League-mästare är bäst:
"We cannot prove we are the best team in Europe, nobody can do that. Because many times the Champions League winner is not the best team in Europe. I was a Champions League winner and I keep saying the same thing."

Om Liverpool var bästa laget förra säsongen:
"No. Last season, the team which played the most beautiful football in the Champions League was Barcelona. They played fantastic football but we beat them so we must deserve credit for that. But Barcelona was a team that played better football. Liverpool has a lot of credit because of what they did. No doubts about that, especially what they did in the final. It was great. They also beat Chelsea without scoring a goal but they beat Chelsea."
