Dean är lite sen......

...på grund av mitt schabblande med e-mails. Bättre sent än aldrig dock, mycket nöje!

The Premiership survival fight is well underway and times are very tense at the Cottage.

The teams incapability of turning possession into goals has become increasingly frustrating and has led to anger amongst many fans on too many occasions in the last eight matches. It is understandable that these supporters who have paid around £350 for a season ticket want some goals for their money, but getting on top of the team helps no one. I admit that at the West Ham game even I became very annoyed, more so than I have in a long time - but I did not respond by booing the players off the pitch as, I´m afraid to say, many others did. Tigana´s total football philosophy may be brilliant in theory, but in practice it is clear that occasionally one long ball through the middle could lead to a goal just as easily as a 30 pass move involving every player on the pitch. If the killer pass can be made in one then I believe it should be. I for one would not complain if every now and then Melville or Goma were to play a fifty-yard ball, which is flicked on by Saha and banged in by Marlet. It may not be pretty but hey, if it gets you a goal and 3 points who cares.

The Newcastle game is a pretty big one and if we could get anything out of the game it would be fantastic. Hopefully the players can rise to the occasion and battle out a point, which no one in football expects us to get.

Damiano has said that 5 points are required to guarantee safety and with Bolton and Leicester still to come to Fulham, we have a very good chance. Luckily results went well for us at the weekend though and to be honest I personally believe we are ok and that Ipswich and Derby will join Leicester in Division One next year.

After tonight´s game we can get our minds away from the league and on that intriguing cup tie with Chelsea on Sunday. It promises to be a cracker and let’s just hope that we can go into the game on the back of a good performance.

Come on You Whites!

Keep the faith - Dean
