How was the game today?

You know it’s a first game and we only had four days of preparation so it’s difficult. It´s a game where we could see the new players and we have 24 players to play and it’s the first game of the season.

Mallorca has signed four new players for this season…

Yes, four new players but we haven’t seen much of them yet. Gianni came yesterday and didn’t play today so we have to wait and see what he´s like. The club has four new players and maybe there will come more, we don´t know but in the beginning every player try to do the best but since it’s the beginning we are not strong enough to do more things.

Mallorca has a good team, but 2 years ago the club ended up in 5thplace in the league. This year you were only one point from relegation, what was the major cause of that drop?

We changed a lot of things in one year, we changed the coach and we lost ten players. Seven players played in the first team, we lost ten players and it came ten new players, young players. It’s very difficult to play in Spain since the league is very strong and 8-9 players that came hadn’t played in the first division, only played in the second. They are not that experienced and everything is difficult to these guys. It was ok and in the end we were a little bit lucky and we see that and try to do the things better and not make the same mistakes and hope that we’ll be better.

In my opinion was one of the main reasons that last year you were very strong at home and it was a difficult game for any team to play Mallorca away. This year it wasn’t really the same…

Yes, that season we won ten games at home, we had 30 points at home. For the teams in the middle, if you don’t win at home it will be difficult to win away. If you don’t win at home and lose out it will be difficult to make points. This year we try not to do the same mistakes we will work hard to win at home because it will be easier to stay in the first division.

As often as you hear people talk about the Spanish league they put all the focus on Real Madrid and Barcelona. In my opinion the league are fantastic with tight battles for the Europe qualification places and also around the relegation which often are decided in the very last round. Agree?

I agree, but also Real Madrid and Barcelona are the best teams in the world but teams like Valencia, Sevilla, Villareal for example has a lot of good players and you see them play in Europe reaching semifinals and finals because they are good teams. For us in Mallorca it is very hard to play in the first division, because 6-7 teams have really good players, every player plays international football.

Totally, I think it is very interesting to follow the Spanish league cause of that. A few quick questions to conclude this:

Which is your favorite team to play away?

I like to go to plays where it’s crowded, to go to Madrid or Barcelona, every player like to play there. But if you go to Sevilla it is very good because the people and the noise they make it´s fantastic supporters and Bilbao. Bilbao has fantastic supporters too. In Spain it’s nice to go where it is a lot of songs and nice supporters, Atletico Madrid and Valencia.

Who is the best player in Spain?

For me it’s Messi.

Who is the ugliest playing player?

Ha ha ha, I don’t know, I don’t know.. I can only say Messi is the best.

Okay, thank you very much for your time and good luck in the upcoming season.

Thank you.
