Ashton uttagen i landslaget
West Hams anfallare Dean Ashton ingår i förbundskapten McClarens första landslagstrupp.
Till alla West Ham supportrars stora förtjusning blev idag Dean Ashton för första gången uttagen till Englands seniorlandslag. Ashton finns nämligen med i den trupp som förbundskapten McClaren tagit ut till matchen mot Grekland nästa onsdag. Förbundskapten McClaren säger följande om Ashton:
"Ashton has come through the Under-21s and then made a big money move to West Ham. He's done well there and should be given his opportunity to show what he can do at senior level."
Även West Hams tränare Alan Pardew kommenterade Ashtons uttagning:
"We are all overjoyed for Deano at his inclusion in the England squad, his quality is there for all to see so it is not a surprise for me that he has been picked.
I am now hoping his individual success will reflect on the group here as a whole and give them all something to aim for. We have a batch of players here who I believe can join Dean in that England squad so let's hope he is the first of many at West Ham who are picked to represent the country."
