"The game was an excellent performance from our players,
"We were limited in our numbers but had a little bit of experience in our side and I thought we were absolutely terrific.
"After the penalty settled us down I thought we played some better football than we did against Celtic.
"Juventus weren't at full pelt but it's still Juventus and we beat them comfortably. Andy Carroll picked up the bits after the keeper's save and fired into the bottom corner and Shay's made a couple of saves at the right time.
"But the most important thing is that Newcastle won a game without conceding a goal. It was important that we just tried to play the game out without conceding.
"But a lot of good young players got a lot of experience. The young players got a lot of experience ? the most disappointing thing out of the day is that Albert (Luque) felt a tightening of the groin, but hopefully that won't be too bad."
