Chad Bond om livet i Östersund

Som en del av samarbetet mellan Swansea och Östersund har två spelare lånats ut till Östersund under våren. Swansearedaktionen har fått tillfälle att göra en intervju med en av dom, Chad Bond.

It's really nice for the Swedish Jacks to have some Swans in Sweden. What do you think of Sweden? It's the life outside the pitch different to the life in Wales?

Yeah, I am enjoying Sweden. It has been a good experience so far. The life outside the pitch is not much different to back home, they boys in the team are great and they all speak perfect English which helps a lot.

Did you know that Swansea had followers in Sweden?

I did know that there were Swansea fans in Sweden because I remember that from the time that Kerry Morgan and Scott Evans were over here, but I had forgotten it until you contacted me.

What do you think about ÖFK? What is the standard of the Swedish division 1 compared to the Welsh League and the English league system?

I think ÖFK is a good team with potential but we have just been unlucky in a few games. We were unlucky against the league leaders on Saturday, but the way we played the week before showed that we can be a good team. The standard is different to that of the league of Wales. It’s a lot more technical here with the defenders playing out from the back and teams sitting back, where as in the league of Wales it’s difficult to do that as teams press very high.

What have you learned from your time in Sweden?

Since being here I’ve learned that I am able to adapt to any situation that comes my way in football. If I can come here to a different country and different ways of thinking and still perform, then it gives me the confidence that I can go anywhere and do the same.

Have you learned any Swedish words?

I’ve picked up a few Swedish words but I don’t think that any of them would be suitable for this, hehe.

Why do you think Swansea is going to Östersund for pre-season training?

I can understand why Swansea are coming here for pre season. It is such a friendly environment to be in plus the facilities are fantastic, also the high altitude is great for fitness training.

What do you think of the Swansea’s chances in the league next season?

I think Swansea have a good chance in the league next season, they were unlucky last season only just missing out on the play offs, if they can build on what they did last season then anything is possible.

How big are your chances to play in the starting eleven for Swansea in the CCC?

I’m not sure what my chances of playing next season are to be honest, I just have to keep working hard and hopefully I will get a chance.

ÖFK took their first victory for the season last weekend, and you and Jamie Burgin played a vital role in the game. Tell us about the game.

It was a great win last week for the team. It was the first time that the manager played me and James in the same team. James wasn’t making it into the squad at the beginning. Then when he made the squad and his first start, I was suspended. So it was nice for us to both play together cause we know how each other play. We also both had a good game and it was a great performance from the team. It was a bonus that I scored two goals as well. It was the first time this season that the team showed that they can play football and produce a good performance.

For how long will you be in Sweden?

We are going home after the game on June 28th, so that we can have a short break before meeting up with Swansea when they return from Sweden. At the moment we haven’t had a break from football and it has been a long season.

Thank you Chad, and good luck in the future.
