"Banks of England"
Vår man på plats, Dave, besökte Britannia Stadium när Gordon Banks hyllades.
Alright lads,
Here are some pictures from the Gordon Banks event at the Britannia today.
We stopped off at the Michelin training pitch and saw the newly positioned changing facilities that Stoke had bought from Aston Villa. Ricardo Fuller was spotted going into them just before I took the photo.
We also had a look at the indoor training pitch that is near to the ground.
The club shop photo is of Stokes new away kit and not of the Swedish kit.
Apart from the odd lick of paint here & there (such as in the mens toilets) the ground itself did not look any different i.e. The same scoreboard & the same dug outs.
I reckon between 6,000 & 7,000 were in the ground. It cost £12 to get in. It was good to see Pele at the Britannia. Desmond Tutu was a funny character. It was also good to see the first team squad make an appearance.
Personally, I wish that more ex-Stoke players had played in the match. I couldn't give a toss about some bloke who has been on the T.V. in Eastenders or the like.
The only ex-Stokies were Mike Pejic, Mark Stein & Mike Macdonald.
.........Dave
p.s. Pejic should of been sent off in the first minute for a professional foul.
