Rykten dementeras
“EXCLUSIVE Newcastle snatch £5.5M midfield star from City” fluorerade friskt i engelska tidningar under dagen.
Roeder: "We are looking in other areas.
The one area where we have numbers is in midfield. We don't have numbers in defence and with Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi out for the season we are short of a striker, with Giuseppe Rossi also returning to Manchester United after this game.
There are priorities in the team and the priorities at the moment wouldn't include central midfield.”
Roeder: "It's just speculation.
We're going to have to get used to it over the next four weeks. It will not just be Newcastle United, every Premiership club will be linked with all different sorts of players.
I would be on the phone to other managers if they started talking about my players who I had under contract, so it would be unfair of me to go into depth about Peter Crouch other than to say he's a very good player and worthy of his England place.
But as far as a transfer up to Newcastle, that's just speculation as far as I'm concerned and I don't know where that's come from.”
