Efter snart ett halvår på sidlinjen är det äntligen dags för Michael Essien att spela igen. På måndag kommer han att snöra på sig skorna för Chelseas reservlag som möter Aston Villa på bortaplan.
Essien kommer inte att spela ligamatchen mot Portsmouth efterföljande dag men finns kanske med i laget mot Coventry nästa helg. Guus Hiddink är positiv över Essiens framsteg den senaste tiden.
"He is developing very well, working very hard and has a very good attitude, a very open guy. We work with him in the recent days, five-a-side, eight-a-side and he will be available on short notice I think.
'Not now, but we plan to play him on Monday with the reserves at Aston villa. If you see him now with the group he is doing well, his presence is good to see. I am rather positive on that."
Även Ricardo Carvalho är på bättringsvägen. Han missar dock lördagens ligamatch mot Wigan men väntas kunna spela inom kort.
En pånyttfödd Drogba?

Didier Drogba har haft en tung säsong med skador och bänknötande under Scolari. I onsdags mot Juventus gjorde Drogba äntligen mål och visade stigande form. Förhoppningsvis kan Hiddink få igång Drogba lagom till avslutningen till säsongen.
"You haven't lost your Drogba, he was just not playing," sa Drogba.
"Being judged when you are playing is much easier, and to the contrary, when you are not playing you can be criticised.
"At the moment I feel good when I'm on the pitch and I make the most of those priceless moments. I'm not at my best because I think I need more games but I'm giving what I can at the moment.
"The truth is that the coach relies on me, which is a massive psychological boost for a striker.
"Physically, I'm not ready yet, but I need to play to get back in good form. There's no sense of revenge at all, that's my game and that's it.
"I've always been like that, I try to give my maximum and sometimes it's with success. You can see from the last two games that Hiddink is working a lot on the shape of the team, the organisation, you have to respect that because we know we will have chances to score goals."
Drogba är hoppfull inför returen mot Juventus i Turin.
"We have a good chance," he added the Ivorian.
"We have to go there and play. I'm very excited to go there.
"It's been a long time since I scored, so to score that type of goal against that type of team was very important for me. If we qualify, I will say that goal was really important.
"We need to score there definitely. Maybe get a draw, or not to concede and score one. It's not going to be easy but I think we have the team to do it."
Kalou beundrar Wenger

Guus Hiddink påpekade att Chelsea måste spela fotboll i 90 minuter, men att han samtidigt var nöjd med 1-0, speciellt de första 20 minuterna då Juventus var utspelat.
"I think we started very well. In the first 20 minutes we were pressing our opponents and we scored a really good goal.
"We should have scored maybe one more to get even more of a breather when we go over there.
"Let's be honest, in the last period of the game we suffered a lot.
"What I think we still have to work hard on is having more control, even in these tough European games.
"Juventus are not an easy team to play against, they are very smart. But nevertheless we should have controlled more, and that is what I did not like in the last part of the game."

Frank Lampard var nöjd efter 1-0 mot Juventus men tyckte samtidigt att laget kan spela betydligt bättre.
"We created enough chances to score more but it's very important we keep a clean sheet at home.
"Juve are a top team. We're past the group stages now and any team you play are going to cause you problems.
"But it's good we didn't concede and we have the chance to go there and cause them some problems.
"It wasn't the best performance over the 90 minutes but it was a big performance and a big result.
"There were patches where we played well. We started very well but at times we maybe sat off a little bit."
Ranieri: Nöjd med tiden i Chelsea

Ikväll återvänder Claudio Ranieri till Stamford Bridge med sitt Juventus. Italienaren som sparkades 2004 efter fyra år i klubben säger sig inte ha något otalt med Chelsea. Nedan följer ett kort utdrag från en intervju med Ranieri om sin sista tid i klubben.
"Even if we had won (the Champions League), I knew that my days were numbered but I actually liked that,"
"I never gave up, and that is part and parcel of my character.
"I don't think I've written much in the pages of history while I was here, though they were wonderful years, all of them, especially the third year.
"We didn't spend a penny in the third year and got into the Champions League.
"Of course, once Roman Abramovich bought the club, it was almost like fantasy football in the fourth year, and we could spend money on whoever we wanted, even if we could only do that from June, so that was a bit late.
"But that's history. We can't change that now."
Lampard vill vinna Champions Leauge

Guus Hiddink har vunnit Champions Leauge en gång i sin karriär. Året var 1988 när han lyfte pokalen med PSV Eindhoven som mycket ung, nu vill han göra om bedriften med Chelsea. Imorgon väntar första hindret på vägen, Juventus.

Drogba vill vinna

Didier Drogba visades ut i Champions Leauge finalen ifjol, nu vill ivorianen ha revansch.
"My desire is greater than ever to win it. We lost two semi-finals and a final,"
"It has been a difficult competition for us. Moscow is very difficult to forget, I still think about it.
"The saddest part for me is the fans. They deserve to win the Champions League and this year we have to play the same way to get to the final but this time bring the trophy back to the Bridge.

Lampard välkomnar Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri återvänder till Stamford Bridge på onsdag med sitt Juventus, Frank Lampard längtar till mötet och tar emot italienaren med öppna armar. Det var nämligen Ranieri som värvade Lampard till Chelsea en gång i tiden och är en av Lampards stora favoriter.
"It'll be very special to see Claudio again. I love the man,"
"If it wasn't for Claudio I might not be where I am now.
"He brought me to the club, improved my game and showed me another side to the game.
"As a West Ham boy I was narrow minded and didn't know the continental style and the way to live my life.
"Claudio brought me to Chelsea and showed me a different way and I've nothing but gratitude for the way he helped me.
"He made John (Terry) captain at a young age, signed William Gallas and Petr Cech. He took us to the Champions League semi-final and was a huge part of what we went on to achieve.
"No one's got a bad word to say about him here, which shows you what a good man he is.
"I'm very pleased at how well he's done at Juventus."

Lampard imponerad av Hiddink

Frank Lampard är mycket imponerad av Guus Hiddink och tror att holländaren kan göra underverk på Stamford Bridge.
"I'd never met him before working with him this past week, so it was interesting to see he is a very serious guy,"
"It's important we have someone like that to help us move forward, but he also has a sense of humour, he relates to players, and I've been very impressed with what I've seen of him.
"In watching his Russian teams recently, they are technically very good, with a lot of movement and passing.
"In training we've worked very hard this week on passing the ball quickly, moving it, being organised, something we really needed.
"I just see him as a very good coach.
"He has a certain aura about him, something that top managers and coaches have, certainly the best ones I've worked with have that.
"They have a sense of fear about them, and when they say even the smallest thing, it makes you realise things on the pitch. He's got that.
"He doesn't say too much, but when he says something, it really matters."
Lampard tyckte sig även se lite av det gamla Chelsea på Villa Park.
"There was a little bit of the old Chelsea out there, that spirit, and the way we played,"
"We looked a bit more like ourselves. You could see the commitment in the lads, that never say die when Villa were throwing balls into the box.
"We also scored early and closed out the game, something we used to do regularly and it used to get on people's nerves because we could get those 1-0 wins away from home.
"That's something we've lost touch a little with this season. We've drawn too many games in a frustrating manner.
"We know we've not been performing to a standard we should have been of late, and it's up to us to put it right.
"We have to take the responsibility as players to improve, and the change in manager has given everyone a boost.
"Everyone has tried to prove themselves in the week in training, and we've carried it on into the game.
"But we've still a lot ahead of us over the next few weeks.
"If we want to push for the title, or to at least stay in the top four and push on, we need to put a long run of wins together.
"The attitude we showed in this game, we need to show it game in and game out.
"So this is only a start. There's no way we can get carried away and say 'we're back'."
Anelka: Nu är vi med igen

Nicolas Anelka gjorde sitt 15e mål mot Aston Villa och såg till att Chelsea fortfarande har en teoretisk chans att komma ifatt Manchester United. Nu ser fransmannen framåt och hoppas att laget kan fortsätta vinna.
"We showed it last week and again, today, we showed a lot of character because it was a hard game.
"It is good for all the players and for the new coach as well because we can continue this winning way and we hope we can win more games."

Guus Hiddink fick en smakstart på nya jobbet när Chelsea slog Aston Villa på bortaplan med 0-1 efter att Anelka gjort matchens enda mål i första halvlek. Så här sa holländaren kortfattat efter matchen:
"It's a very good start in new circumstances and a new situation,"
"What pleased me most was the first half, we played very good football, had good possession and were dangerous.
"The only thing we didn't do was score a second to kill the game.
"In the second half we leaned back a bit too much because they have power in the air but on the other hand we could have scored one or two more."

Räkna med att Aston Villas mittfältsmotor Gareth Barry håller ett extra öga på Frank Lampard i dagens match på Villa Park.
"To score the amount of goals he has in his career is incredible for a midfielder and we must be aware of his threat," Barry told Villa's official website.
"He hits the ball so sweetly and whether it be long-range or tap-ins, Frank always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

Drogba redo att skriva nytt kontrakt

Didier Drogba har ryktats bort från klubben ända sedan José Mourinho lämnade Chelsea och klubbar som Inter, Marseille och Milan sägs ha varit intresserade. Ivorianen har inte varit sen med att kommentera dessa rykten och vi som läser tidingen dagligen har fått uppfattningen av att han vill lämna Chelsea. Nu verkar vinden vänt, och Drogba är redo att skriva på ett nytt kontrakt och förbli blå. Så här kommenterar huvudpersonen själv dessa rykten:
"I am happy with everyone here and want to be a Chelsea player,"
"I want people to stop talking about me going back to Marseilles or going to Inter Milan. I want to stay until the end of my contract. I love the fans.
"My family love it here and we want to stay. There have been no talks about extending my deal but there is time for that. I would stay if they offered me a new deal. I know that first I need to show I am still the Didier Drogba this club knows."
Kalou vill imponera

"He knows a lot about me because I scored goals in Holland but that is different and we are now in England, a new challenge for me.

Aston Villas manager Martin O'Neill varnar Hiddink att det kommer bli väldigt tufft för honom att vara tränare för både Chelsea och det ryska landslaget. O'Neill säger att den kortsiktighet Chelsea visar upp kan bringa framgång för stunden men aldrig i längden.

Essien tillbaka om en månad?

Chelseas mittfältare Michael Essien kan vara tillbaka i spel om en månad efter sin jobbiga knäskada. Essien som varit en av Chelseas bästa och viktigaste spelare under hans år på Stamford Bridge är väldigt efterlängtad, och kommer att göra skillnad på planen med sin inställning och offervilja. Det är bara att hålla tummarna och hoppas att uppgifterna stämmer, Essien själv tror i alla fall på en comeback inom kort.
“According to [rehabilitation physio Thierry] Laurent, it should not take more than one month for me to play actively again,”
“He has assured me that once we go through a few other exercises for two or three weeks, I should be fit enough to return to the pitch.”
Essien passar även på att tala gott om Guus Hiddink.
“Hiddink has been around for quite a while and knows what it takes to get positive results out of nothing,” Essien added.
“He is a fantastic manager, so we hope he would bring the magic to give us strength we need to mount a challenge in all competitions.”
Försäsong i USA - match mot Seattle Sounders

Som Chelsea tidigare har meddelat kommer sommarens försäsongsturné att äga rum i USA. Den första matchen är nu bekräftad. 18 juli spelar Chelsea mot Sounders FC på Qwest Field Stadium, Seattle.
Sounders, som delvis ägs av komikern Drew Carey, kommer debutera i MLS, den högsta fotbollsdivisionen i USA i vår. Lagets första match var en träningsmatch mot LA Galaxy för ett par veckor sedan. Den slutade med en 3-1-seger.
Chelsea har turnerat i USA flera gånger på 2000-talet. Senast The Blues var i Seattle var 2004 då skotska Celtic besegrades med 4-2. 1977 förlorade Chelsea mot Sounders med 0-2 och tio år tidigare slog The Blues ett lokalt amatörlag från Seattle med 5-0.
Chelseas klubbledning har lovat suppotrarna att minst en träningsmatch ska spelas på engelsk mark i sommar, men det lär bli fler matcher i USA också.
Hiddink funderar på förändringar

Guus Hiddink säger i en intervju med ChelseaTV att han funderar på att förändra laget och spela in yngre spelare för att få en förändring på Stamford Bridge. Chelsea som på senare år varit dåliga på att få fram talanger har förtillfället många duktiga unga spelare på gång underifrån som förhoppningsvis under Hiddinks ledning kan få chansen att visa upp sig. Spelare som Michael Mancienne, Franco Di Santo, Miroslav Stoch och Scott Sinclair är några unga spelare som redan fått speltid under säsongen och anses vara nära att slå sig in i laget. Nedan följer ett litet utdrag av Hiddinks funderingar efter reservlagsmatchen i måndags.
"It is good to see if there are some young players who might be very interesting for the near future.
"Even if you are a big club and if the first team is settled, you must always create space for youngsters.
"There are always promising youngsters and that is why you have to keep an eye on them.
"(First-team assistant) Ray Wilkins and I are always talking about this. If they (young players) are well, they are always committed.
"If they have the quality to come in, we do not hesitate to do so."
Quaresma i reservlaget i kväll - tv-sänds

Terry förblir Chelsea trogen

Under januarifönstret fick Chelsea en förfrågan av Manchester City som ville värva John Terry. Lagkaptenen kommer dock inte att lämna The Blues i första taget. I ett uttalande på Chelseas officiella hemsida säger han att han vill avsluta karriären i klubben.
'Chelsea told me what had happened with the enquiry as a courtesy. I was very happy with their reaction as mine would have been the same. I have always said that I want to end my career at the club which I love and we all see no reason why that cannot happen. Given recent events I am more determined than ever to make Chelsea successful again.' säger Terry.
Chelseas vd Peter Kenyon säger att klubben inte vill sälja Terry, som är Chelseas hjärta och själ:
'We made it very clear that John was not for sale. We did not entertain any further conversation on the subject and nor will we in the future. John is our captain and the captain of England. He is part of the heart and soul of Chelsea.'
Blackburn eller Coventry i kvartsfinalen

Chelsea slog Watford med 3-1 på lördagen och avancerade därmed till FA-cupens kvartsfinal. Där väntar en bortamatch mot Blackburn eller Coventry. Lagen spelade 2-2 i helgen efter ett sent kvitteringsmål av Blackburns Christophe Samba. Vilka som får möta Chelsea avgörs i ett omspel.

Wilkins stannar under Hiddink

Ray Wilkins, assisterande tränare till Luiz Felipe Scolari, kommer att leda Chelsea mot Watford i helgens FA-cupmatch. Därefter kommer "Butch" att assistera Guus Hiddink.
"I'll be working alongside Guus for the immediate period," Wilkins said.
"He isn't bringing anyone in for the time being. So it will be Guus and myself and then we'll see where we go. I'll assist Guus as much as I possibly can.
"I'm employed by Chelsea and not by the new manager. But if he wants me to disappear I'll have to disappear."
Hiddink meddelar att han, som väntat, inte kommer att fortsätta som Chelseatränare efter sommaren.
"What happens after May is rather clear, because it's rather difficult to do the two jobs. I have my obligations also in Russia," säger Hiddink, som inte kommer att kunna axla rollen som manager för Chelsea såväl som det ryska landslaget under hösten.
"It's rather difficult to do that because the Premier League is really challenging.
"We can do it now because we have just one or two games until June with the national team of Russia, that's why we said OK. We can do it now and we can do it full-hearted and fully committed."
Chelsea redovisar ekonomisk förlust

Chelsea redovisade i dagarna siffrorna för det senaste räkenskapsåret (juli 2007-juni 2008) och som väntat blev det en stor förlust. 65,7 miljoner pund (närmare 800 miljoner kronor) slutade minussiffrorna på.
Den stora förlusten beror delvis på de avgångsvederlag som betalats ut till Avram Grant och José Mourinho samt deras assisterande tränare till en summa av 23 miljoner pund. Förlusten har dock halverats sedan 2005 då den låg på 140 miljoner pund. Förra året var förlusten 74,8 miljoner pund.
Chelseas vd Peter Kenyon är nöjd med siffrorna, som bland annat innebar en ökad omsättning med 11,5 procent till 213 miljoner pund.
"There is no doubt that the positive upward trends of turnover and the continued reduction in losses shows that Chelsea is building a strong business base to build on in what will be challenging times," he said.
"This is even more evident given that the results were adversely affected by the exceptional items"
Alex hoppas på speltid under Hiddink

Alex tar emot Hiddink med öppna armar och tror att holländaren är rätt man för Chelsea. Alex som tidigare haft Hiddink som tränare i PSV vet vad som väntar och har förhoppningar om mer speltid när Hiddink kommit till klubben.
"He is a good coach and a fantastic man," the South American stopper told the club's official website.
"I think he will play a similar system here to what we have seen, and when I was at PSV we played a 4-3-3 system - we had some very exciting times there.
"In my three years in Holland, two of them were with Guus Hiddink and we won the title both times, and the double once, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League in my first year."
"Obviously as a player, you always want to be playing, and I was on the bench. I mentioned that I wasn't very happy because I was on the bench, but I never said that I wanted to leave," said Alex after finding himself at the centre of much transfer speculation during the winter window.
"People perceived that because I wasn't happy that I wanted to leave, but that was not the case. Now, I am playing quite well, I am getting back into the team, and that's it really.
"Of course you never know what will happen in the future, because in football everything changes. But I am very happy to be playing at the moment and I hope it can continue.
"When you are not playing you can feel a bit down but at the moment I am playing well and will continue to do so. The most important thing is to keep working hard, because if you find yourself on the bench and the coach needs you, you have to be ready."
Kakuta har brutit benet

Chelseas lovande anfallstalang Gael Kakuta har brutit benet. Det var i måndags i en träningsmatch mot Glenn Hoddle Academi som olyckan var framme. Kakuta som värvades från Lens 2007 har varit väldigt duktig och visat framfötterna i reservlaget den här säsongen. Frank Arnesen är dock hoppfull och säger att klubben ska göra allt för att Kakuta snart ska vara på benen igen.
"It is very serious and he will be out more or less for the rest of the season.
"It happens in football, but we will take good care of him and hopefully he will be back in three months' time."
Lampard välkomnar Hiddink

Efter gårdagens landskamp mot Spanien passade Chelseas mittfältsstjärna på att välkomna klubbens nya manager Guus Hiddink.
"He's obviously got a top name and worked with top players," Lampard told Sky Sports News.
"He taken teams in big competition a long way that you might not expect to go as far as they did technically. He made them play very well.
"I don't know much about him, but I look forward to working with him."
Lampard passade även på att tacka Scolari för den tid som varit.
"I had a great relationship with Scolari for six to seven months, or whatever it was," he continued.
"When he came to the club it was a difficult summer for me and straight away he made me feel comfortable.

Det var när Carlo Cudicini värvades av Tottenham under januari som Chelsea började se sig om efter en ny andre målvakt bakom Petr Cech. Chelsea hittade Kamil Contofalsky, slovakisk landslagsmålvakt, i ryskaligan som själv säger att han var mycket nära att flytta till London.
"Unfortunately, the transfer fell through," he told Slovakian daily Korzar.
"I don't know the exact reason why it has.
"It seemed that I would fly to England on the transfer deadline day. However, it did not turn out that way.
"My agent called me to tell that the deal was practically done but, eventually, I did not go there.
"I had been prepared to move. Anyway, I am not at Chelsea and I have not been looking for the reason why it is as it is. It is not worth it.
"A week ahead of the proposed transfer my agents were telling me about it, but I did not believe much it might go through.
"When I was flying home from Dubai and was in Frankfurt, my agent called me that everything was heading towards my move to Chelsea and that we would fly into London on Sunday.
"We were waiting yet for a call from Chelsea's chief executive Peter Kenyon to confirm that. However, he did not call as they have decided not to sign any other goalkeeper, keeping Hilario as number two."
Ingen Ancelotti till sommaren

Det spekulerades i somras om att Milans manager var nästa tränare på tur för Chelsea men då blev Scolari klar istället. När den sistnämnde sparkades häromdagen blossade spekulationerna upp igen om att Ancelotti var den som skulle ta över Chelsea till sommaren men nu går italienaren ut och dementerar detta.
"Every year at this stage of the season there are the same stories, but I am not worried," Ancelotti told La Stampa.
"Last year the only club that made an approach was Chelsea. Over the summer I met with (Roman) Abramovich, but I did not want to part with Milan.
"The same applies now, I do not want to go."
Drogba nöjd med Hiddink

Kalou vinner pris

Salomon Kalou har vunnit pris som Afrikas bästa unga spelare 2008.
Totalt har 54 tränare från Afrika röstat och flest röster fick den Ivorianska anfallaren.
Kalou som var med och tog sitt landslag till semifinal i Afrikanska mästerskapen, gjorde även sju mål förra säsongen för Chelsea och deltog dessutom i Champions Leauge finalen mot Manchester United i Moskva.
"I am very proud of this moment, it is a great day for me," he told skysports.com.
"After Didier (Drogba) won the African footballer of the year award in 2006, I am now the second Ivorian to win a footballer of the year in any category.
"I realise a dream, now I need to work hard and play well to win the big one, one day."
Kalou passade också på att tacka Scolari för sin tid i Chelsea:
"It is sad for Mr Scolari he is a great coach, we are the ones to blame not him, but that is football," he added.
"I wish him luck, we need to regroup and try to challenge again, we are a good team and can go on a run.

Hiddink oroar Juventus

Essien tillbaka i träning

På onsdagen gjorde Michael Essien sitt första träningspass med lagkamraterna sedan knäskadan han råkade ut för under ett landslagsuppdrag i september. Det var ett lugnt pass men ändå en tydlig indikation om att mittfältaren är på bättrningsvägen.
Enligt Chelseas officiella hemsida beräknas Essien kunna träna fullt i slutet av februari och vara redo för match i mitten av mars. Guus Hiddink återfår då en väldigt viktig del i lagbygget.
John Terry kan tänka sig Hiddink

Ray Wilkins första träning genomförd

Idag höll Ray Wilkins sin första träning på Cobham efter att Scolari fått sparken under måndagen. Ray tog hjälp av Paul Clement och Glen Driscoll i olika övningar som innehöll ett flertal yngre spelare eftersom många i truppen är på landslagsuppdrag. Wilkins fick ändå se Alex, Bosingwa, Di Santo, Quaresma, Belletti och Mineiro utmärka sig bland de yngre spelarna. Belletti visade klass när han gjorde två mål varav en volley som sägs varit något extra. Quaresma fick även han ett omnämnande efter att skruvat in en boll bakom Rhys Taylor i målet.
På torsdag får Wilkins tillbaka alla spelare och kan då börja förbereda laget inför matchen mot Watford i FA-Cupen på lördag.
Deco besviken på Chelsea

Deco värvades av Scolari i somras för 7,8 miljoner pund från Barcelona. Han handplockades av Scolari efter att de kamperat ihop under landslagsspel med Portugal, och nu går portugisen ut i media och uttrycker sin besvikelse över att Scolari fått lämna Chelsea och menar att den enda anledningen att han skrev på för Londonklubben var just Scolari.

Vissa delar av Stamford Bridge uttryckte på nytt sitt missnöje med Scolari och hans byten i matchen mot Hull igår. Det var när nyförvärvet Quaresma byttes ut mot Didier Drogba som det hela eskalerade och publiken började att sjunga "You dont know what you're doing" till Scolari. Ray Wilkins förstår inte fansens kritik och försvarar idag Scolari och hans byten.
"I think it is a minority that would be chanting it. That would kick it off and then people would get on the back of that.
"That is their prerogative because they pay their money. People do pay a lot of money to watch football and if they want to boo then by all means come and boo."
"But to say someone does not know what he is doing when he has achieved what he has in the game, is a tad out of order.
"It is never very pleasant whatever ground you are at. He clearly does know what he is doing. He has been in the game a hell of a long time and won a lot of trophies as well. So, from that aspect it is quite disappointing."
"The substitutions are always to try and improve things on the pitch, so that is why we did it."
Wilkins tror samtidigt att Scolari inte förstod vad som sjöngs mot honom och han har inte tänkt berätta det för Scolari heller.
"When crowds are chanting I don't think managers from foreign countries understand what is being said," added Wilkins. "He would not have understood that. I certainly won't tell him because it is unnecessary. I don't think it should be heard around our stadium."
Zola lämnar inte West Ham

Många fans har börjat tröttna på Scolari och vänder blickarna mot Upton Park och de blå ikonerna Gianfranco Zola och Steve Clarke. Zola uttalar sig idag att han inte tänker återvända till Stamford Bridge den här säsongen men lämnar samtidigt dörren öppen för framtiden.

Förra året nådde Chelsea final i FA Youth Cup. I år blev det uttåg redan i åttondelsfinalen. Liverpool var för starka på Anfield och vann med 1-0. Igår hyllade Deco det nya lånet från Inter, idag är det hans landsman Carvalho som sprider glädjande ord om Quaresma och hans egenskaper.
"Quaresma is a very fast and explosive player who is a real warrior on the pitch, so he will be able to handle the physical nature of the Premier League,"
"But at the same time he is a very technical player and can score goals, which will be good for us.
"He will be a huge help to us at this time of the season.

Carvalho säger också att Quaresma alltid varit intresserad av Premier Leauge.

FA Youth Cup på tv

Deco tror på Quaresma

Ricardo Quaresma lämnade som bekant Inter för spel på Stamford Bridge i måndags. Många fans ställer sig frågande vad portugisen ska tillföra på Stamford Bridge, när han under sin tid i Inter underpresterade något enormt. En som dock tror på att Quaresma kan göra skillnad i spelet är hans landsman Deco.
“Quaresma is young but has improved a great deal in recent times.
"He can be a very good reinforcement for Chelsea with many decisive moments in the season coming up.
“The Premier League may suit Quaresma more than in Italy. I believe he can have more success here.
“I am surprised it did not work out for him at Inter, especially as it was Jose Mourinho who wanted to sign him last summer.
“He is a player with fight, determination, swiftness and great vision on the field.
"He can make things happen and unlock opposition defences.
“On the ball he is a fantastic talent and can dribble at pace. He is a great player to watch and he will excite the fans.
“The defeat at Anfield was a major setback. But the team need to react well now.
"It's still possible for us to fight in many competitions but that will depend on us.”
Quaresma redo för Chelsea

Ricardo Quaresma fick aldrig chansen att visa vad han gick för hos Mourinho i Inter. Under Scolari hoppas portugisen kunna spela ut hela sitt register och prestera bra fotboll för Chelsea.

Förlusten på Anfield i söndags gör att Manchester United kan dra ifrån med 8 poäng om de vinner sin hängmatch. Det blir naturligtvis väldigt tufft att komma ifatt United som ser riktigt starka ut förnärvarande men Petr Cech är hoppfull.

You can see that from last year. Arsenal were eight points clear and ended up third, so we will keep playing, we will try to keep winning and we will put the pressure on the others.
We are behind and we need to keep winning so if Man United or Liverpool drop points we can close the gap.

Chelsea lånade Quaresma framför näsan på Spurs

Harry Redknapp har bekräftat att Tottenham var första klubb att visa intresse för Quaresma. Redknapp pratade med Mourinho och fick klartecken att börja förhandla när Chelsea kom in i bilden och lånade portugisen. Förmodligen valde Quaresma Chelsea mycket på grund av att Scolari är tränare och pratar samma språk som honom, vilket naturligtvis underlättar.
"I spoke to Jose Mourinho on Sunday night for half an hour, had a great conversation with him on the phone.
He was helpful as usual, and he said, 'Yes Harry, you can have him, no problem'.
But then Chelsea came in out of the blue, so it was difficult. He is an exciting player and I am sure Chelsea have a good loan player.", sa Harry Redknapp på presskonferansen igår.
Lampard slipper avstängning

Det blir ingen avstängning för Frank Lampard för det röda kortet han drog på sig mot Liverpool i söndags efter en tackling på Xabi Alonso. Det beslutade FA:s disciplinära kommitte på tisdagen. Lampard kan alltså delta i matcherna mot Hull, Watford och Aston Villa som han skulle ha missat om han hade blivit avstängd.
Så här säger FA i ett uttalande:
'At an independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard was upheld. As a result, Lampard's three-match suspension has been withdrawn. Lampard was shown a red card for serious foul play during Sunday's Premier League match against Liverpool.'
I mars förra året fick Lampard en avstängning upphävd när hans utvisning i mötet mellan West Ham och Chelsea drogs tillbaka.
I går meddelade FA att José Bosingwa inte kommer att straffas för påhoppet på Yossi Benayoun i matchens slutminuter.
Inget straff för Bosingwa

José Bosingwa kommer inte att straffas för tilltaget på Yossi Benayoun i matchen mellan Liverpool och Chelsea. På stopptid satte högerbacken dobbarna i ryggen på Liverpool-mittfältaren. Domare Mike Riley missade händelsen men hans assisterande Mo Matadar såg situationen och därför kan FA inte straff Bosingwa i efterhand.
FA släppte följande uttalande på måndagen:
"The FA has confirmed that no disciplinary action will be taken against Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa.
Bosingwa was involved in an incident with Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun during the Premier League match at Anfield on 1 February.
Referee Mike Riley has informed The FA that, while he did not see the incident himself, it was seen by his assistant Mo Matadar. No action was taken against Bosingwa by the officials.
Under the FIFA Laws of the Game, The FA is prohibited from taking disciplinary action when incidents are seen at the time by the match officials."
På Chelseas officiella hemsida bad Bosingwa om ursäkt för det fula tilltaget.
"I apologise for what I did and it was never my intention to hurt him. I know it was wrong and I apologise."
FA kommer under tisdagen att undersöka om Frank Lampards utvisningen kommer att upphävas (se notis 2/2 16:28)
Sergio Tejera lånas ut

Ricardo Quaresma, Scott Sinclair och Jimmy Smith. Skaran av spelare som var inblandade i lånaffärer under transferfönstrets sista dag får ytterligare ett namn i form av Sergio Tejera.
Sky Sports rapporterar att den 18-årige mittfältaren har lånats ut till Real Mallorca för resten av säsongen. La Liga-jumbon har en köp option på Tejera efter säsongens slut.
Jimmy Smith lånas ut

I skymundan av ryktena kring Ricardo Quaresma (se notiser nedan) har Jimmy Smith lånats ut till Leyton Orient. Den 22-årige mittfältaren kommer att stanna hos League One-laget resten av säsongen. Smith har tidigare varit utlånad till Queens Park Rangers, Norwich och Sheffield Wednesday.
Samtidigt har Scott Sinclair förlängt sitt lån hos Birmingham till säsongens slut. Den 19-årige yttern har spelat fyra matcher sedan han anslöt till topplaget i The Championship i början av januari. Sinclair har tidigare varit utlånad till Plymouth, Queens Park Rangers, Charlton och Crystal Palace.

Transferfönstrets stänger i dag och deadline för övergångar är egentligen 18:00 svensk tid. På grund av det rådande snökaoset i England har FA dock skjutit på deadline, vilket innebär att det fortfarande finns tid för transfers.
Chelsea har inte varit inblandade i några heta spekulationer den senaste veckan men på eftermiddagen i dag har The Blues kopplats samman med Ricardo Quaresma. Portugisen som inte har lyckats i Inter finns inte med i klubbens Champions League-trupp och ryktas vara på väg till Chelsea eller Tottenham.

På tisdagen kommer FA:s disciplinära kommitté att besluta huruvida utvisningen Frank Lampard drog på sig i söndagens match mot Liverpool kommer att kvarstå. Chelsea har överklagat det röda kortet domare Mike Riley visade Lampard efter en tackling på Xabi Alonso.
Om utvisningen inte upphävs kommer Lampard att missa de tre kommande matcherna, mot Hull, Watford (FA-cupen) och Aston Villa.
Förra säsongen fick Lampard en utvisning mot West Ham upphävd i efterhand och i höstas fick John Terry samma utfall för ett rött kort mot Manchester City.

Liverpool slog Chelsea efter två sena mål av Fernando Torres. Efterspelet handlade dock inte om resultatet utan den tveksamma utvisningen Frank Lampard åkte på efter en timmes spel.
Lampard gick in med dobbarna före mot Xabi Alonso men spelade ändå på bollen. Mikel Riley valde att visa det röda kortet trots att Alonso och Steven Gerrad kom undan med liknande tilltag strax innan. Chelseamanagern Luiz Felipe Scolari var inte nöjd med domare Riley. Så här sa han till Sky Sports efter matchen:
"I want the referee to look at this on television and maybe change this card for Lampard. When I look at it I see it as a foul by the other player. Maybe when he looks on TV he will change the red card, and we will have Lampard for the next game."
Däremot ansåg Scolari att José Bosingwa kom lindrigt undan med ett påhopp på Yossi Benayoun i slutet av matchen.
"If the referee decided to send off Bosingwa I would have understood. A red card for this I would accept, but not Lampard's."
Chelseatränaren tyckte att Liverpoolsegern var rättvis.
"Liverpool were better than us all game. I think the result after what happened with Lampard was normal because they had more possession and quality, but before then they did not."
