Lambert Says 090511

“I gave a few of the other lads a run out today, though it hasn't told me anything that I didn't already know.

“I'll be having a chat with the players individually on Monday, and we'll go from there.

“When I first arrived, I was asked to prevent us from getting relegated, which we've done. Now it is time to freshen up things. They all expect it. I'll be telling the players my plans, and we'll move on from there.

“The professionalism of the players has never been in doubt. There's been no lack of effort, but we need to build for next season. We'll be giving it a right go.”

“I never thought we were going to lose this one. I enjoyed it today. It was a good performance. Ashley (Vincent) took his goal well. He has that in his locker to score goals, having scored six for Cheltenham in a struggling team earlier in the season. He should be a big player for us next season. It was a terrific break for this opening goal. Ashley's got good pace, although I took him off early in the second half because he was suffering from a virus. And Mark Yeates did well to score 13 goals this season, especially as he is not a natural goalscorer. That's a good return. His game has just lacked consistency.”
