Aston Villa - Newcastle 3-0 Reserver
Här följer en snabb rapport från läktaren av Dave Cooper
From Tuesday night, sorry it's late but this is the first opportunity I've had.
We won 3-0 at a canter, Newcastle didn't seem up for it, their one or two household names strolled around not really caring and their kids weren't as good as our kids!
Luke Moore was lively, he was bought down on the edge of the area for our first goal, a free-kick delightfully curled in by Stephen Cooke, and I think it was Luke who was fouled in the area which gave us our second goal, Luke himself stroking home the penalty. The third came from a superb through ball by Paul(?) Gardner to Gabriel Agbonlahor whose cool low finish was excellent.
Some notes on the players:
Goalie, Olijnek (or however you spell it) had nothing to do, commands his area well though and is very vocal.
Defence: Ridgewell had a solid 70 minutes and looks to be well over the injury, Drobny was solid as well, Cahill still looks like the player most likely to make the next breakthrough to me though.
Midfield: Gardner was excellent, Cookie is finally showing the form he had last season as well, last chance saloon for Cookie, I reckon he's off if he doesn't make the first team this season.
Forwards: Both Luke and Gabby caused endless problems, hard to say who was the better player on this showing. I don't like to over-hype the kids but Gabby is really progressing well, and boy is he fast!
