Ett officiellt uttalande från Villa säger att man hade kommit långt i förhandlingarna med Portsmouth men O'Leary har bestämt sig för att jaga andra spelare. Dealen blir alltså inte av.

Doug Ellis säger:
"There have been reports this morning that Middlesbrough are about to beat us to the punch, but that is simply not the case. I don't know whether or not they are after the player, but that is their business.

"Negotiations with Portsmouth were at an advanced stage, but the manager has now decided not to pursue his interest in the player. That's David's prerogative and we move on."

Det ryktas nu att Middlesbrough är intresserade av spelaren.
